Very harsh on russell. Left the car to check on zhou. Told marshalls not to touch his car. Came back and they had loaded onto the truck and therefore russell isnt allowed. back into the gp
According to him it was just a puncture with no obvious damage, but the floor would have taken some scrapes getting back I'm sure.
Ted on Sky saying not all cars had passed the Safety Car 2 line (what ever that is) before the Red Flag so its the original grid.
It looked like his rear wheel was fecked too but I don’t know.
Completely agree the safety now is absolutely incredible, it would be interesting if a drive to survive episode could go through all the safety features and explain them it would be really interesting

Equally Gasly could have expected a car to cut over and the gap wasn’t big enough with the coroner coming up. Bit of both still for me.

I mean...you can tell the marshalls all you want but they will follow whatever their procedures are. I see why Russell would get out the car but at the same time there are marshalls and stewards there for a reason.
Max on mediums
Aren't this type of things supposed to be designed for the worst case scenario? Seems like an oversight which they'll have to make some updates for next year.
Not sure, but Ocon managed to get back with 3 tyres and Yuki got back with front wing under his car.
and people were saying he’s better than hamilton. just look at the difference in finesse in how they send people into the barriers at this grand old circuit.
Both Sainz and Max starting on new mediums, wont be so easy for Max this time round.

So Max has used two tyre compounds. That’s potentially an advantage for him if you can go M M to the end. Sainz (and others) will have to go M H or M S
There was no need for Russell to get out of his car. He isnt qualified to help the Zhou.. Even if he was first to the car, he still shouldve stayed away and let the medics do their job.

I‘m sure you can’t model every scenario, when have we last seen it. I’m not sure what they can do other than double stack the tyre barriers but then the stands will have to be raised. Will be interesting what they do.

I was in a serious crash recently and first thing I did was leg it over to the other car even though I shouldn’t have. You’re not really thinking right in the heat of the moment at all. Russell, like me, was probably instantly consumed with guilt and wanted to make up for it straight away. Poor fecker looked very upset.
