Key difference here we aren’t saying take a pay cut to stay at the club.
We’re saying if your desire to leave for CL football is so strong then some financial sacrifices may need to be made on your part. Big big difference.

Whatever happens United board should hold firm and just offer a mutual contract termination if Chelsea doesn't happen. No way should we be paying any wages if Napoli or similar are his only options. He's 37-38 and should accept a much lower wage now if he wants to continue elsewhere and face the market value. He's either a main player in a lower team on a low wage, a bit part player in a bigger team on a lower wage or the very rare chance someone like Boehly pays for the marketing hype.
I do think a team working hard around him can make it work but obviously that can turn sour.

i think you’ve entirely mischaracterised what people have said about his wages.
no one is saying he’s on too much money or needs to take a pay cut.
people have been suggesting that if he Wants a move away, but his wage demands are stopping him getting that, then why wouldn’t he lower those demands, considering his personal financial security.
if he wants to stay, fine. But he needs to get on board that he won’t start every game and can’t be a negative influence.

Makes no sense why he won't lower his wages to go to Sporting or Napoli because the story won't be different next year. Nobody wants Ronaldo on those insane wages, this summer or any other summer
I’d like to,think if he agreed to cancel his contract and us not have to pay his wages for next year it would be allowed to happen but that is totally unrealistic. No chance will Ronaldo give him that amount of money

Chelsea is honestly my preferred scenario as it destabilises a direct rival for top four. Would be surprised if Tuchel is still there next season if it happens.
If he won't find a club before the deadline there's still the option of a mutual termination of the contract leaving him free to sign for others right? At the very least he'll always have Saudi as an option.
Is there a situation where you would do that to then sell for a fee - for example, he goes on loan, plays a blinder and the loan team want to keep him - could you trigger the extension and ask for a fee vs. letting him join as a free agent?
Would be nice to think he'll leave and be replaced but with the end of the window approaching it looks more and more likely that we're stuck with him.

I think making Ronaldo out as a trojan horse is a remote possibility. He still has effectively 2 years left on his deal. We shouldn't be giving him to a rival for free. This is someone that scored 24 goals last year.

Him staying here won't be great for his World Cup, either. Not in terms of being picked because he obviously will be, but in terms of match fitness. If he stays I really can't see him playing that many games. Maybe a few sub appearances here and there, but not a run of games. And as we've already seen, he looks way off it, and the tournament starts in about 2 months.
Isn't a big part of him kicking up a fuss to do with the fact that he wants CL football? He isn't going to any team that doesn't have it. If he doesn't move now, I don't see why he would terminate his contract because he still isn't going to find a CL team.
I expect he'll play in the cups and the Europa League so will get games.

i wouldn’t agree with asking him to reduce his wages if he’s staying, we signed a contract we should honour it. But I do think if he wants to move somewhere else, he should be willing to take a pay cut at another club.
