Champions League Round of 16 (14th Feb - 15th Mar)

Is it me or does the ucl feel a bit bland and boring this year, outside of madrid the rest of the side are just a bit meh

I feel like 90% of bt sport punditry is just saying “he’s got everything” over and over, and listing which Prem clubs a player should sign for

So much noise about a non handball, even if it touched the defender's right hand:

1. The defender is not putting his hands in an unnatural position (protecting himself, elbows down by his side)
2. Defender is facing the wrong way and cannot see the flight of the ball at any point to consciously affect play
3. Why the feck would the defender handball it towards his own goal with hungry strikers looming? :wenger: :wenger:

Those were my first thoughts when I saw the clip last night. This new angle emboldens that regardless of it hitting the shoulder anyway.

It not only feels dull but it feels like so many of the teams just aren’t at their best. The game the other night was great, but it sort of proved the point with how Real just battered them.

Maybe after this round of games it’ll hot up a bit.

At least one of those three teams will qualify the next seasons Champions League imo. It's between Spurs and Liverpool for me (I think Newcastle will drop off a bit more).

Mid-table form can sneak you into the top four in the right circumstances. Two years ago we were 8th with 10 games to go and ended up third, taking 26 points from a possible 30. We do still have Arsenal, Spurs United (all home), City and Chelsea (both away) to play but I don't think we'll fail to win all of those.

If we were to beat Palace and Wolves in the next two then I think we might have a shot at sneaking 4th. I do agree that we've been playing terribly all season though. It would be quite the turn around if we were to sneak in.
“ I don’t think we’ll fail to win all those”
What the actual!

We’ve already beaten City and Spurs despite being rubbish (but I expect us to do our usual terrible performance at the Etihad). Chelsea are beatable and anything can happen in the home games.

It’s how we do against the rest that will determine it, starting with Palace.

You're taking a 3 goal decifit to the Bernabeu, that's the best possible position to be in mate :(

Arsenal Spurs United City & Chelsea.
I will bet you any money you won’t win every one of those .

Let's hope Chelsea still goes hard on him in the summer. Could be fun to see him in the PL between his annual injury/sister birthday/carnival etc...

Are you trolling? It was a horrific foul

Apart from James the Chelsea line-up somehow still looks mediocre.
Maybe they need to spend some money.

Whoever is playing off the right for Dortmund in attack can get joy between Cucurella and Koulibaly back 3. Mental.

Dortmund have some problems with their lineup:
Guerreiro is non-existant defensively, but Ryerson is suspended.
Adeyemi is still injured and Brandt, Reus, Haller is a very slow front three, especially if you're playing away from home with a lead and are probably going to have some space to exploit.
Kobel is a massive loss. Meyer is a second division goal keeper, who already shipped two goals each against City and Bayern.
I don't think Haller is there yet in terms of fitness - not that I blame him, for obvious reasons - but he's usually good for more or less 45 minutes, then hanging in there for 15 minutes in the second half, until he gets subbed off.

They are literally two of the best teams in the world

Had a good game against Leipzig I though.

Exact same goal Darwin scored?

Offside anyway

Why is Kobel benched and Chelsea game delayed

This is the kind of game where Chelsea would be better off with an interim manager, just go for broke and organise yourselves on the pitch. It’d be amazing if they still try to play tumescent football even when they’re on the precipice.
