At what point do people have to start finally realising that conservatives are not just using "it's a battle of good and evil" as PR speak to their base on Fox News? Just listen to these people, whom are behind closed doors and speaking to their own friends. The rhetoric is totally engrained in their ideology. They dont see politics as completing ideas, they see it in terms of ideological domination of the majority by the minority.
That clip shows it all, they truly believe all the BS they say out loud. It's not an act and "liberals" have got to understand what they are truly facing..... ideological extremists/supremacism

Possibly. I'd say minorities rather than poor but that's a big Venn overlap. And legalization and regulation would also offer capitalists a big opportunity to exploit the poor's desire for these substances.
But the US also has a weird puritanical streak that also influences these things and I'd wager that's a bigger factor than the capitalist angle. Basically if you're into this stuff you're bad and that puritanical element judge you and your flaws worthy of despair and death.

It's strange though, there's loads of money to be made in legal recreational drugs. Many members of our current government in Canada got in on the ground floor of a few marijuana companies up here and did well.

I agree mostly because you are right in minorities and you said it yourself that in the endis just a big overlapping Venn diagram. I dont agree on the business possibility perspective because the business can still be done with big margins, little competition and not taxed. Legalization only favours general population because there are more entry market and the goverment having a share in taxes.
Illrgal drugs had been used to have and excuse to demonize and if possible control via jail punishment as you said minorities and also poor. It started with weed and mexicans in the 30s and continued with hippies against war and blacks for civil rights in the 60s/70s. And the is known that the goverment used it like this

I dont think is much different today but before was control the minoritis that were mainly poor and today is more about poor that are mainly minorities

Same as for a President. 50%+ of the House of Representatives need to vote to impeach. Resulting Impeachment trial then runs in the Senate where 2/3 majority is required for conviction.
0% chance the former happens, never mind the latter.

It’s so depressing that nothing will come of this. I assume it requires a supermajority to impeach. I expect he will step down next time GOP are in power and they will replace the seat.
And this is why the SCOTUS, as an institution, is in severe need of reforms on elements like the appointment process and mandatory retirement age.
In many countries, there are such rules. In Canada, the Prime Minister will push forward a candidate before the other justices in the Supreme Court (and not the senators) will be the ones assessing the candidate for her/his fitness for the position. The appointment has to be supported by the institution itself; that is true independence from the judiciary branch.
