Family atmosphere...

Is it just me, or does anyone else also read that tweet as "Poch wants to get rid of the ruthless winning mentality and success or fire strategy that made Chelsea successful in the Abramovich years"?
If I am right Potter also said similar things when he appointed.

"Family friendly" Chelsea

No swearing
Players to cuddle the fans
Chelsea Lion to be replaced with a kitten
Racist Chelsea fans told to use family friendly racial slurs
Plug sockets to have those plastic covers on
No alcohol
The Shed End seats replaced with high chairs

Might be a mistake taken this job. This chelsea team looks so bad not just throughout this season, but watching them against Manchester city shows again how appalling they are. Chelsea passing out the back is night and day different than what a Pochettino team are typically capable of. Pochettino will have to give this team intensive surgery and completely change their mentality and footballing philosophy.

Pochettino should follows his principles he did at Spurs and that was emulated by Arteta this season and just start fresh with younger players there and try and get players with the right mentality and technicalities. At psg, he was able to make those divas play the best they could and got them to the semi final of the champion league, but this chelsea team doesn't have the same level of talent. This could definitely be his hardest job unless, he gets the signings right.

Tuchel won the Champions League with this lot. That's the bar.

Getting the excuses in early I see.

So Poch is now a chequebook manager who has no coaching skills?

Chelsea actually grew into the game. There is a lot of promising sign as the game went on even though they were playing man city B team.

Pochettino no doubt has to trim the squad. Havertz was appalling, I will be surprised if Pochettino keeps him next season. Sterling somewhat impressed as well. Getting the right number 9 will change Chelsea season next season, as well as a goal keeper like onnana who is composed with his distribution and a cm to partner Enzo.

1st tier: Kane, rice, Onanna, keep Felix and get gift orban as backup to striker
2nd tier: Højlund or lautaro, Ugarte, emi Martinez (not a big fan, but a mentality monster )

Even though chelsea need a striker that can score goals and Oshimen looks like the perfect fit, Oshimen technical ability will not compliment players like Felix, mount, Enzo, sterling, mudryuk, kante, etc who can play those quick 1 2s and intricate passing. If Pochettino doesn't want to adopt that type of football, then getting wide players that can just cross to Oshimen will be ideal. Still don't know where nkunku will fit in his team. Seems like an unnecessary addition and highlights the poor transfer strategy by chelsea.

That team lost Werner who was the glue holding it all together.

Not sure if serious. Werner was as much a liability as Havertz and Felix are now (well may be not as much, but he definitely was not the "magical glue").

He didnt score as much as hoped but his constant runs and speed in the last third opened up goals for others. His engine was tireless. It is why fans still loved him even if he was missing goals.

Didn’t they sack him before though

Yeah but that’s like over 10 years ago though. I don’t think we should bring him back but it’s not because we sacked him once a decade ago.

Yep. Sacking Ancelotti much more recently (2015) didn't stop Real Madrid from hiring him again either.

But yeah, not what we need right now. Ancelotti is not a manager to steer his team over a 'transitional period' but rather someone who comes in once the transition is over and it's time to win some trophies with a ready-made and stable squad.

This chelsea team is a mess when it comes to playing as a cohesive unit. They have a lot quality players, but they play as individuals. It won't be an easy job, but Pochettino will have to improve the dressing atmosphere and footballing aesthetic, and mold chelsea into an actual football team rather than the circus it is. So many deadwood and toxic players as well, that poch has to get rid of. It starts with getting rid of these deadwood and toxic players and getting the right recruitment.

There's plenty in that squad to work with. Nkunku already added, most likely another striker coming in and they'll be back in the mix next season.

They need experience and leadership which they have next to none of atm. They can keep throwing talented youngsters into the mix but it won’t solve the problem.

Is this official? I'd expect it to be in next 1-2 days and then Poch in the stands for Chelsea-Newcastle game on Sunday.

We’re just waiting for the official announcement at this point.

Is this make or break for Poch? He's already failed at one big club and now has a chance with Chelsea to prove he has what it takes.

They'll wait until this season is over. Don't want any of its stink on the new boss.
Makes sense.

PSG performed worse this season than last under Poch (or at least not better) so his stint there won't be seen at great failure. Don't think PSG was ever right for Poch anyways and believe Chelsea aren't ideal either but if their patient with him, it should pay off.

I like Poch, but he's making the same mistake again - never join a club where the board/owner wields so much power.

People will be fine defending failure at one job based on context. If it happens again and again, then people will start questioning whether the issue is with the manager itself

This squad has some potential, add Nkunku and another striker and they could be really good next season.

They surely can't be as bad.

You'd expect with only Premier League football for most of the season they should be challenging for top 4.

Does Poch still use 4231? I have no idea he moved away from that but I’m sure that was his style.

A defensive mid beside Enzo is perfect.
Nkunku behind a striker is perfect.
We definitely need rid of Ziyech, Pulisic and Aubameyang for a wide player who scores goals and a striker who scored goals.

Malo Gusto is a great signing and he will get a lot more game time than he would have expected. Reece James is never fit.

Chilwell and Cucurella will be left back and back up.

We need a goalkeeper. Mendy will leave.

I could see Thiago Silva and Koulibaly leaving. I like Badiashile and Fofana but they need coaching.

Lampard didn’t pick a settled 11. He makes 3/4 changes every game. He’s destroyed Mudryk and Madueke’s confidence so Poch should work on what we have over preseason.

They will challenge for top four again once the new manager is in.

Alot of decent players who look poor because of the current lack of organisation.

Not to mention they will continue to sign more players in the summer, some way some how.

This is completely accurate. There is no settled 11, no settled system and young players given 60 minutes then dropped for 3/4 games then back in again.

Mudryk and Madueke are great examples of players who are clearly talented but look absolutely shocking under Lampard, albeit Madueke less so.

We’re officially done with Lampard’s ‘go out there and express yourself’ freestyle football. Alhamdulilah.
