Lots of talk now about personal terms not being agreed and that the reporting jumped the gun, don't think it's as advanced as we are lead to believe.

Agreed. He wouldn’t be my first choice signing, but I think he improves United in the midfield next season. I think he is a more athletic, active, pacey version of Eriksen. He also holds the ball well under pressure and gives us work on the defensive end. He is more purposeful in his work than Fred with more pace. Definite upgrade for me.
Couple of years back I used to call him Chelsea's Lingard. Karma hits you hard sometimes.
People would rate him higher if he was actually better.
Thought he was very good under Tuchel, which makes me believe he can fit in a system under Ten Hag alongside Bruno as advanced 8s.
Yes in my opinion. Mount is a better player than Eriksen at this stage, and he gives us the ability to play a more aggressive pressing/possession style of ball. I don’t want to pay over the moon for him, and there are better players out there, but he upgrades our starting 11 in my view.

Some serious underrating of Mount going on here. 
There's a reason why every manager he's ever had has liked him a lot and also why so many top clubs are after him now, simply put it he's a very good player. While there are obviously players who are flashier and more talented than he is, there aren't many who are as talented as Mount is but who will also work as hard for the team as he does. The modern game is not just about who's the most talented but rather most players also need to be able to put in a shift towards the team effort and that's where Mount shines, he offers a great balance between talent and work rate and he's the type of player most managers would love to have in their team. I can't think of many players who are capable of putting in double digits in both league goals and assists while also being the most hard working player in their squad.
Though I have to say I'm a bit surprised United are after him. If ETH continues with the 4-2-3-1 it could cause Mount to be somewhat of an awkward fit for you lot. With Bruno and Casemiro basically locked in as undisputed starters I would have thought you'd be more in need of a Kovacic type player than someone like Mount who's not that well suited to playing in a deeper midfield role. For the kind of money needed to sign Mount (and his sizeable wages) he will no doubt have to be a starter but I don't see where he starts for you in a role that suits him best.
I have to say I'm a bit disappointed if he does leave because along with James he's one player I thought we could keep counting on for the near future but the man himself seems to have other ideas and as a result we as a club have clearly started to move on from him too. Nkunku will definitely make the number 10 role behind the striker his own and deeper in midfield Enzo needs a defensive-minded player alongside him and Mount's not that.
Ironically I could see United having the same type of problems with Mount's position as we would if he stayed. Not defensive enough for the deeper midfield roles and also not quite as creative enough for the number 10 position as someone like Bruno or Nkunku is. He'd be a perfect fit for a team like Liverpool but I get the feeling they've been priced out.

He’s been better than Kovacic for the last 3/4 years but that doesn’t stop the same posters running from here to cry about not signing him instead of City
Don’t get this signing at all especially since we have gaping holes at striker and goalkeeper. Surely you would want to focus on those positions first before spending money on a Bruno backup

Does the order these things get concluded really matter? I doubt we've decided to put off even thinking about other signings in order to focus purely on our pursuit of Mason Mount.

Perhaps the majority of the Caf will feel better when we sign Harry Kane after Mount. These two signings will really elevate us to another level or two
Because then the budget is less overall when we absolutely need a striker and goalkeeper and we have an even less budget than last season if reports are true. Say we’re priced out for a top class striker because we spent 40m on Mount who’s not even a guaranteed starter then that would be ridiculous business
That's not how a budget works, the budget is the same regardless of the order of spendings.
Rather undermines the point of budgeting if you find yourself unexpectedly running out of money not having budgeted enough for your main priorities.

The midfield trio of Mount, Bruno, Casemiro sounds appealing at first but then you start to wonder how are we actually ever gonna control games. All the top teams have a midfielder that dictates the play. Mount is excellent off the ball I’ll give him that but we need more quality on it otherwise we’re gonna still be ceding possession
That´s probably debatable but, yeah, not a big fan of Kovacic either. Looks good at first glance with his low center of gravity and quick dribbling skills but his decisionmaking is kind of all over the place imo.

I'm pretty sure they've not forgotten they need a striker and are in fact quite confident they have the funds available for both Mason Mount and their target up front.
So say we have a 120 million budget at the start of the season. We spend 40 million on that for Mount then we have 80 million left. With that 80 million we need to buy a striker and goalkeeper who I think most can agree are the most important positions to improve. We spend 40 million on a goalkeeper that’s 40 million left in the budget. Suddenly Kane is priced at 60 million but we can’t get him as we don’t have enough left when Kane is a player that significantly improves us far more than Mount could do (considering we have a crock and a man who can’t score goals in that position right now)
I'm also baffled, I mean he is better than Eriksen and if Eriksen was quite good next to Casemiro, I don't see why Mount can't be better. But the real question is why not buy a specialist rather than trying to force a player like Mount in an unfamiliar position. He's surely not taking Bruno's place in the starting 11.

I'm not a huge fan of Mount but he's twice the player McTominay is, and he's younger.
I think there are several reasons to that, and not just comments like my own, even though that also was pretty childish, admittedly.
But it really is tiresome reading how shit Mount is over and over when he really isn't.
Mount is tidy in possession. He also gets about better than Eriksen which is useful in possession as he is good at getting himself into position to show for the ball. Our possession game would improve.

It's being reported that ten Hag wants a versatile number 8 so clearly he sees Mount as that.
Would be interested to see a source. But his stats for last season are nothing short of impressive. Tuchel knew how to use him.
