It was like that but that just shows what a shit and weak CEO Woodward was. He was right on not buying Maguire when Jose wanted, and he was wrong in then buying him when Ole wanted. Should have sticked with the original ‘No’.

But then it does not seem that Murtough/Arnold are doing better in this aspect, just that hopefully ETH is better than Jose and Ole in finding targets. Still IMO we operate in a massively outdated way when the manager finds the targets.

Of course we don't know what's been said between him and ETH and what's happening behind the scenes, but shouldn't he and his agent be looking at a club where he could be playing every week?

If United have set his sale fee higher than interested clubs are willing to pay, should we blame Harry & his agent for that? All the blurb in his threads seem very pointless as all the fans know is he’s probably available for a set price and that he wants to fight for his place.

I think West Ham are looking at Sutalo as is Arsenal so I think they have moved away from Maguire and they were likely the only show in town. We are stuck with another player here until that bumper contract runs out.
 
Surely it’s not Maguire himself blocking a move away. He’s not blind to the level of criticism that comes his way in a United shirt and he’s looked bereft of confidence on the pitch for a long time now, despite what he says in interviews.

Every second he plays drives his price down further. Should've just given his minutes to some youngster and let clubs fall into the trap of "Maybe he could fit us?"
 
If the conspiracy theory about playing Sancho as false 9 to show the owners we need a new striker is true, then ETH is surely playing Maguire to convince owners to take whatever offer is on the table and run.

Why are you so sure? If i had a big money contract i would try to do my best to keep it. I dont think Maguire is too happy to give up a big contract, the commercial opportunities a Manchester United receives and the prestige of being a Manchester United player to become a West Ham player for David Moyes? I wouldnt. I dont like Maguire and i want him gone but i can fully understand if he decides to stay. I dont blame him one bit for that.
 
Why is he even being given minutes? ETH should tell him that fighting for his place is no longer an option, and to find a new club or rot in the reserves.

Im willing to bet 99% of professional footballers have an high opinion of themselves and you only have to look at the statements hes released to see that but that aside, the fact he beleives he can still force his way in to the managers plans despite clearly not being fancied shows he clearly has more faith in his abilites than most of us do.

West Ham (or any buying club) can sweet talk a player all they want with high wages and how much they want a player only to make a crap bid they know probably wont be accepted. Understandable any player would be annoyed in that situation.

True enough, but he doesn’t strike me as a proper pay cheque player. Not to the extent that he’s willing to take the level of abuse he gets and destroy his career.

I mean, I’m not sure, but he must know there is no prestige whatsoever in his position right now. There is far more prestige for him in playing for England and that’s already being questioned, it’s only a matter of time until he loses that if things carry on as they are. He can continue to play for England at West Ham, not so much when he’s benchwarming and getting second-string runouts in the League Cup.

I don't think this overall awful performance with an assist will make people feel any different.

Great job getting an assist to his name, other than that, he was below-below average. He just always looks stiff, awkward and a problem waiting to explode whenever he has to pass, defend anyone or literally do anything on the pitch.

Again, nice job on the assist though I guess?

Hardly what happened. We said no to Mourinho’s transfer wishes because the relationship with the manager was turning sour and all the players he wanted at the club ended up performing badly, to the point where he wanted them replaced. Hell bent on signing Sanchez, who ended up playing (badly) on the left wing and having a negative impact on both Rashford and Martials form, a star signing underperforming so badly, and at extreme wages, it was hardly much of a surprise that the higher ups weren’t eager to jump on any of his other wishes. We had just spent large fees on both Bailly and Lindelof, neither of them performing well, and then his solution was to spend a record fee on a player that he could’ve signed instead of either Bailly or Lindelof, for much less money, as Maguire moved to for around £12mill the same year we spent £30mill on Lindelof, a year after we signed Bailly for over £30mill.

In terms of Maguire now, he’s in a hole he’s never digging himself out of, his performances are miles below what he’s capable of but he looks devoid of any confidence whatsoever.
 
I dont get the point in playing him. Keep him from the squad like Bailly and Fred so he gets the message that he is not wanted anymore.
 
We need to get an acceptable bid for him to let him go. No point selling him if it does not make sense according to ffp rules

I didn't see the first half so I can't comment on what happened in that, but there was noting wrong with the second half performance, does it mean he's good enough to be at United, no it doesn't, but if you're gonna point out the shite then you should also do the same with the good
