Harry Kane | Bayern Munich player

I think he is way too expensive for his age and only 1 year of contract left, but i think he would be absolut excellent in our team.
And judging by his game and physique i can well imagine Kane to play on the highest level until ~35, just like Lewandowski or Benzema.

Last year we were a much better team with Choupo Moting than with any of the "false 9" experiments we tried (Mané, Müller, Gnabry).
We desperately need a new "poacher" in the box and additionally Gnabry and Sané would love Kanes passes.
I think he’ll be a goal machine for you. Without sounding condescending, especially in the Bundesliga which is a bit more open.

A 30 year old Kane is a 25 year old player who relys on pace.

I can just imagine the playmaking and passes Kane will provide the likes of Gnabry, Coman and Sane.

We must lodge a bid.

Non-negotiable, even if we don't sign him and we are blanked, as a club, we have to make a public and formal bid.

We have too.
No way. 100m+ euros is just crazy when we could use that money elsewhere.

Im delighted we’ve gone for a young, highly exciting prospect in Hojlund.

So Harry Kane’s (and Gary Neville’s) masterplan is to rely on Levy behaving with a degree of honour and in a way that favours the player’s interests over those of his club? It’s a bold strategy, let’s see…..etc

They leak we bid for him. Publicly we look desperate and that we don't want to go through a season with only Hojlund (which is true but you don't want to advertise how desperate you are).
Or that we at least tried our best getting the best center forward avaliable without delaying our business the way we did last year with frenkie, it's not all that negative and I don't think anyone truly believes we bought Rasmus to be a starter from get go.

How on earth would us putting in a bid we know will be rejected and we can't even afford anyway be a message to show we're a serious club

It would be the total opposite.

That's exactly what I never got about Neville's point.

Harry Kane goes to Levy today and says "I want you to accept the same value offer from Man Utd as I want to stay in England."

Daniel Levy - "Nope"

What does Kane do then? Go and complain to the citizens advice bureau?

Some of you are bat shit crazy.

You think we’re just going to pull out a £100m from our back pocket as if it’s a tenner and FFP doesn’t exist. We’ve spent half a billion since last summer.

And then we bench a £72m signing and keep him as backup. Amazing.

Oh damn. Crazy deal. Didn't expect Bayern to actually choose to spend so much on a guy at his age. Have to say that I'm glad it's not us, as I am not sure how long he'd be able to last at an elite level in the prem (as he's already significantly adapting his game and showing signs of decline in some metrics). The way he adapts to prolong his game might not be beneficial for us long term, while at Bayern he'll be able to stay relevant longer without adapting and saving himself for the CL a bit, so I could see him banging them in for fun for 5 years there while in the prem I think it'd be sort of a 3 year max sort of thing.

Just the way our squad is, having a guy with pace and power and who plays like a focal point i think gives us far more potential long term than Kane dropping short often.

Says he’s not going to Bayern and Levy absolutely bricks himself that he’s about to see £100m go down the drain? Pretty simple to see how this plays out IF Kane wants to come to Old Trafford.

When Levy has an easy way out to sell the player to outside league why will he accept similar bid from us?

People running the clubs are not stupid, as much as fans want to believe that .

We have to make much more larger bid with much more favorable terms for Levy to accept the bid.

He doesn't have an easy way out... Kane has to agree too. If Kane wants to stay in England without extending his contract (which is looking likely) and we make a similar bid, they will have to accept it, or risk losing him for nothing in a few months. Doesn't have to be us either. Any of the top clubs could bid and Levi will be hard pressed not to accept.

Had his contract situation been different, I'd agree that we don't have to bother with this saga.

1. No money, can't even sign Amrabat without selling Fred and VDB
2. They won't accept it, under no obligation to

Exactly, this is that dreaded confirmation there isn't gonna be a chance to get him either January or next summer. Not gonna lie I am a bit gutted we couldn't match it

Based on the early summer reports, it seems like we did try for Kane but then we moved on once we realised Levy was demanding something ludcrious.

No more Woodward strategies please. Focus on all squad weaknesses and purchase well, instead of focusing on one weakness and blow the entire budget on getting the best in class for that weakness and neglect the other areas.

If Kane wanted to stay in England, Bayern wouldn't have put lot of effort to make acceptable bids.

United have the money

Where all these fresh “we must bid for Kane” talks come from? We obviously don’t need a player in his 30s and in the last year of his contract for 100m

It's a sad state of affairs if our "best" is to put in a bid at the last second after a bid has been accepted from another club.

Levy doesn't have an obligation to accept the same bid from Utd. He'd just turn it down and we'd look stupid.
I think Levy has pressure and obligation to sell. If we drop an equal bid and Levy rejects, suddenly Kane holds all the cards.

Kane can reject Bayern and Levy has already shown his hands that he needs to sell, and would likely be obligated toward ours.

Chances are small of him coming to Utd for various reasons but really can’t understand those that don’t want him. It would be the perfect transfer and push the club to seriously competing with City. We have just signed a pretty much unproven youngster who is expected to hit the ground running and provide much needed goals. Kane for a few seasons with guaranteed goals while bedding in Rasmus is the perfect scenario.

Still think he will stay at Spurs

Kane could be a complete cnut if he wants to be now. If us/Chelsea lodge a bid and he refuses Bayern then they’re fecked.

Spurs aren’t in a position to turn down 100m+ for 9 months of football from Kane

How has Levy done that? By playing hard ball and negotiating all summer?

Levy has shown pretty much what he's always shown which is that he will sell a player only on the terms he finds acceptable.

Says he’s not going to Bayern and Levy absolutely bricks himself that he’s about to see £100m go down the drain? Pretty simple to see how this plays out IF Kane wants to come to Old Trafford.

But have we said that he's our main target or something? At least Liverpool went through the effort of tapping up Bellingham for a couple years until he got too expensive for them. For Kane to screw Spurs out of 100m, he'll need to feel that we've been preparing for his arrival ever since ETH joined or something like that.

For the fee, understandable. But no one here wouldn't want Kane in their line up this season.

But if Kane refuses Bayern then he’s screwed. He can’t afford to turn down 100m for 1 season from Kane

Wait people are seriously thinking we need to go and bid 100m on a 30 year old Kane? You out of your mind? That's not what a smart club who is still transitioning does. That's when you are fully developed, playing at a high and consistent level but just 1 CF away from potentially winning it all - like City were pre haaland.
