This track is very specific, 70% of the lap is full throttle. They have configured the car to be very low drag , but that can work very well in one lap. RB still have advantage over in race pace due to tire deg.

Whats difficult is to imagine that as an excuse for finishing 8 tenths behind his teammate on a track like this.

The lack of prep is not an acceptable reason when he had qualy simulations in Fp3 and finished a decent 11th. Its not like he's been dropped into the car at the last minute like Lawson FFS

If all he wanted was for his son to get a seat, he could just buy one from Williams/Haas. He bought a whole team because he genuinely loves the sport and wants to win. If Max says he wants to drive for AM with Alonso, Stroll would dump his son before the call even ends.
Yeah Stroll Sr gives his son a seat but he’s in it to build a championship winning team from scratch. Stroll jr winning races is a distant second.

He wants his son to become World Champion, thats why hes in the sport. Lance isnt going to lose that seat to any driver on the grid.
He's improved the marker value of that team substancially. If he got bored and walked away he wouldnt lose any money.
Getting bored after years eventually might be a thing. But that's unrelated to his son driving for the team
