Here the rule that would apply, is, I think, that Maguire is "challenging an opponent for the ball", which is an offside offense.

Just make it simple, if somebody’s position is offside; they’re off. Talking about challenging play or going for the ball is bollocks. They’re on the fecking pitch, if they’re not going for the ball, they need to be hauled off.
