It is not McTominay. I would say that Fernandes need to calm down little with his running all over place. He is warrior but need to be more central. I don't know if it is tenHag who said to him to run freely or not. But he needs to be a link between McTominay and Amrabat. Fernandes need to trust our wide players to do their job so he can concentrate at his own job.

McTominay isn't a midfielder in my eyes, he is someone who needs to be played in a role that is similar to how Fellaini was used at Everton under Moyes. He cannot play in a holding role, his physicality is well over estimated and he doesn't offer enough in a creative sense. That and the fact that he isn't willing to come and get on the ball leaves us often carrying him, in hope that he might pop up with a goal.

I wanted Mainoo to sit in with Amrabat and make us harder to get at.
