Donald Trump - GUILTY!

Republicans would have turned her into the next Hillary and she would have been considered a Barack Obama puppet with no mind of her own. She’s already been turned into a Soros style bogie man

Yeah, at one point Republicans were shitting themselves and inventing all kinds of stories about how she was going to announce her candidacy. We even had people on here insisting it would happen.

It's not that mad, and actually makes a lot of sense when you boil it down to the essence.

People support Trump because they believe he will be the toughest/nastiest/meanest to the types of people they hate. And to them that's all that matters.
And they think like that because their belief systems are shaped by a chunk of the media that promotes hate and division (not to mention the US is the pinnacle of a highly unequal, individualistic, profit over everything modern society), while educational systems aren't doing a good enough job (lack of funding, not because of teachers) to develop people's critical faculties to challenge said narratives. Nothing will change until inequality is systematically addressed.

I do wonder how vindictive a Trump admin will be to everyone involved in this. Bit like how every signature on King Charles I death warrant was hunted and killed, once his son restored the monarchy.

Can see Trump and his supporters going after the DA, the judge and lawyers involved once he’s in office. Or tit for tat legal proceedings.

If Biden wins again, a pardon for Trump might be a prudent political move.
The president can’t pardon a state level conviction.

The president can’t pardon a state level conviction.

Bill O'Reilly was melting down on Cuomo's show last night and suggested Biden should pardon Trump on all federal cases, pardon his son Hunter, and ask Kathy Hochul to pardon Trump in the NY case. The level of delusion is classic old school O'Reilly.

Ah. Probably true; you definitely know more about all this than I do. It all seems distant and exotic to me

Luckily the jury must have realised that he was merely confirming evidence given by others already. It might well have been more problematic if the conviction relied on his evidence alone. It also probably didn't help the defence that a) the very pro-Trump National Enquirer guy said something to the effect that Cohen wouldn't even pick up a lunch bill as he didn't have express permission from Trump, b) Trump failed to take the stand despite saying he would, and c) the defense never really came up with an alternative theory or narrative.

Agree on all points. Very glad he has been found guilty.

Don't forget to opine on the race further on down the road, keep your jinx streak alive.

I would be more than happy to if it means his loses in November.

As long as there are appeals outstanding, he will still find a way to convince voters that he is technically still innocent. He will take it all the way to SCOTUS and you know how those upside down flag baring, free RV receiving cnuts will vote.

I think he still finds a way into the WH.

Just heard Trump’s speech after the verdict. Talked about the corruptness of it all and then also mentioned George Soros. I never quite understood why that guy is considered such a boogey man by the right. Even to the point of getting a mention by the ex President.

Its essentially anti-semitic dog whistling, but imagine the whistle being a 200db airhorn.

It is just Trump word salad. He could have easily thrown in the name of Obama, Biden, Clinton or Ted Cruz's dad.

They vilify George Soros, yet dont want to mention the umpteen big GOP donors.

Obviously great news. Just have to hope it makes some difference with Biden also shedding voters because of Israel, his age, and ignorant people in general.

Regarding the sentencing: while I would generally agree that a prison sentence would be hard to imagine for a former president, the court yesterday really surprised me with 34/34. I think that such a sentence is more likely than we think.

It’s not antisemitism when you attack George Soros. He’s a lefty, and so he doesn’t have the same treatment.

First amendment means you can call him a dickhead, but surely saying he’s corrupt is defamation?
Defamation is a statement that injures a third party's reputation - only the judge could pursue that, and I'm not sure anyone being called corrupt by Trump actually injures their reputation TBH

Yuge news. Many many millions and millions of dollars.

This is fecking great

I don't know. It's just really sad to see a person not only so disconnected from reality but also in emotional pain because of it.

"The only man who stood up for me in my whole life" he said about a man who shits in gold toilets and not only doesn't know him, but obviously does not give a single damn about him and his ilk (or anyone but himself for that matter).

And also to be clear, just as with any lunatic that I feel sorry for, me feeling empathy doesn't mean that I don't consider them dangerous and idiotic.

Trump is about to speak without a teleprompter. If he violates the gag order it can be used against him during sentencing.

"The mob always will shout for 'the strong man', 'the great leader'. For the mob hates society from which it is excluded."
(Hannah Arendt)

Good quote but very incomplete for modern times, in my humble opinion. It should be "For the mob hates society from which it feels excluded."

In today's society people can feel victimised and excluded even when if they are not. Perception doesn't always correlate with facts. It's very hard to argue that old, white, male, middle-income America from where Trump draws the most if not all of his power, is in any way excluded from the American society. If they are excluded, then everyone is.

This feels like part 3rd world dictator rant part stand up comedy.

He's citing the Daily Mail as having him up 6 pts in 12 hours. What a lunatic.

Insane that you can get found guilty for something like this and still run for president.

I find that is correct. This avoid political prosecution to get your rivals out of a race. Or someone that the establishment doesn't want to run (the establishment would loooove trump to win by the way). Another matter would be if proven to interfere in elections or anything related in public office that should be barred for public office for a determined period of time

In the end, in unrelated matters of office, the voters should elect the president IMO. And any sane democracy should not vote for him

Daily Mail are going to public ally bend over for him now.... even more than normal if possible

"Dumbest, incompetent and dishonest president ever"

Is he talking about himself?

Multiple references about Cohen without saying Cohen's name. These are definitely gag order violations
