A compilation of the times when Jon Stewart tackled reproductive rights over the years.
Sigh...
Americans.
Keep 'em coming...
I just couldn't believe that shit when I first read 1864. What are those people even smoking to get that far back?
We have basically found the ultimate meme about people going backwards with laws in order to find the "good old days" again.
Sigh...
What's ironic is that the abortion law from 1864 is even much more horrifying than just banning abortions. The 1864 law also allows marriage to a 10 year old. The guy who wrote the bill married a 12 year old a 15 year old and 16 year old.
I've just realised that the general election being called means that the vote on legalising abortion in Great Britain won't take place now.
No, still a criminal offence under an 1861 law.Its not already?

Common sense reigns...

It is a criminal offence which is legal if certain conditions are met. Far too many women are investigated and prosecuted under the law. That's not exactly true. There have been many amendments which have made it legal in various circumstances. Abortion is widely available across the UK, up to 24 weeks. They're talking about changing the term to bring it down to 22 weeks.
