Manchester United vs Chelsea

Ref should have let the corner be taken. Even that was over the time. But once the ball was cleared he should have blown the whistle. Lucky to get that. But having said that we've been all over them and deserve the lead. Good to see our passing movements coming back. Can see another couple of goals coming our way in the second half.

its a minimum of two minutes

Rio was down for a minute, the red card debacle took at least two minutes to sort out. That alone was three minutes of added time.

The easiest way for FIFA to sort of the added time thing is to mandate the clock be stopped during sending offs, injuries, etc. Not saying the clock should stop for throw-ins, free kicks, goal kicks, etc.

" Avram Grant can rip up that inaugural team talk he was planning - the goal has changed everything. Chelsea are a man down and a goal down - if they salvage anything from this Grant will make himself an instant hero."

If the ref didnt see the foul on Evra, what hope did he have of seeing the injury time had expired?

Is it just me or is the coverage on sky the biggest Chelsea wankfest anyone's ever seen? Gray and Tyler have their cocks out big time!

Very fortunate lead for Man utd, thought Chelsea had done well in the first half and apart from that Rooney curler early on your lot have just huffed and puffed. Chelsea to be fair have been the same and seem to get forward very quickly and then not have a clue as to what to do, no real pace in that side nor is their a target man to get the ball quickly up to. Nice goal by Tevez though, good anticipation to get there ahead of Cech.

Shocker of a decision to see Mikel sent off, was never a red card but these things happen at Old Trafford. The players quickly surrounded the ref to put more pressure on him, Evra took a nice little leap before dropping down so it was bound to happen.

He blowed the whistle when Fergie started walking towards the tunnel:D

Tevez need to get into the box a bit more, and start picking up positions in the gap between Chelsea's defenders. He did well for his header, but that was more luck than judgement. There are more goals in this game for him if he just starts taking some gambles.

Great time to score. They can't sit back now, which will allow us to play the sort of game we love. Really looking forward to this second half.

Still got one half left though and in FOOTBALL anything can happen. Hope to see Manutd pile on the pressure not letting Chelsea any room back into the game. Tevez+Roo does look promising, Brown playing alot more like a RB and the best thing in this match is Giggs is at last having a good game ( he certainly is a genious in LW not a holding striker ) GO UNITED !!!!!!

There were more Chelsea players around the ref than United players.

Tevez can still improve...but at least he is showing magnificent signs. We must go for blood in this game and score as many as possible and let in none.

Would you have said that if Tevez hadn't scored?

i must be being harsh on the lad....because apart from the cross for the goal ive been once again unimpressed.

i cant believe how much is going in our favour....we need to make this one count

Sure is. Halfway thro the first half we'd had 68% of the play, 6 corners to 1 and 5 attepts on goal to 0. Commentators were saying "it's an even game!"
What a load of bollox

Did anyone else think the ref accidentaly pulled out a red card, didn't want to look like a twat, so just held it up?

He seemed to look at the card a bit bemused at first.

I'm not complaining however :D

I think the red card was just. He went in with no chance of getting the ball and planted his studs right on Evra's foot / ankle. Dangerous tackle, deserved red.

Cannot believe he didn't give the penalty however. Of course, had he done so he would have had to have given Joe Cole a red too. So they have done well to be only one goal and one man down heading into the second half.

I really feel as though they are there for the taking. A decisive defeat today could send them spinning for a few games...

Chealsea had done nothing

Exactly.

Even when Rooney plays up top (And no, they arent interchanging - Rooney is always further forwards) he's best creating things rather than getting on the end of them. Time and again he's shown today that he's far more effective in creating than Tevez has been (so far this season).

The problem with that is, Rooney beats his man and looks in the box... No Tevez. He's stuck behind him standing next to Giggs.

Tevez needs to play further forwards. He's not a midfielder and we have other players who can wait on the edge of the box.

You really think the ref pulled out a red instead of a yellow because he was surrounded by players? Harsh decision but only because the ref is an idiot. He's sent off 4 players in his last 5 games now.

if jose was in the manager's box during that first half, chelsea would have 11 men on the pitch no question...that his influence on the referees was a big factor in the big games ...

should be a 10 match ban after he grabbed the ref

Back in August after the Charity Shield I posted on a thread about Terry grabbing the ref during the game. When Mikel got sent off both he and Terry grabbed the ref's hand to stop him from pulling out the card. OK the red was harsh but fecking hell, can't those feckers learn to respect refs. Giggs gets a foul given against him and obviously isn't happy but just shakes his head. Joe Cole gets a foul given against him and goes into freakout.

ok, now that the euphoria of tevez scoring had died down, i'm still hoping he comes off. saha on !!!!
