Manchester United vs. Coventry City [Carling Cup]

Shows how shit our youth team is.

Liverpool win
Arsenal win
Chelsea win
Manchester United get knocked out in the same round as last year

feckin embarrassing.

Have you seen the Liverpool and Chelsea lineups ?!

Liverpool won, so will Chelsea, cant wait for the media wankfest and the fans who'll claim we're shit that season.

'United in crisis'

'Glazer's in secret meeting with Mourinho'

Etc etc.

Honestly, does anyone really give a feck?

Glad we're out of it tbh.

They didnt play an entirely youth/reserve team now did they? Needed Torres and Sidewall :)

this truely is dreadful - fair enough, none of us will lose any sleep over the Carling Cup, but Jesus, theres some good players on the pitch now for us and none of them have shown anything.

Liverpool and Chelsea didn't play their youth teams. And Arsenal and we do that in the League Cup. For the others it's their best shot at winning a cup.

It's funny I guess.

Really though, it was foolish just to throw a load of young players out on the pitch and hope they could figure out how to make it work. You need them to play in their proper positions and you need a few experienced players to keep some structure. If Rooney wanted to play so badly then Fergie should have put him on the bench just in case.

Can't say I really care whether we won the CC or not, but players who have a future at United like Evans and Simpson could have used it.

Players like Eagles,Bardsley and Martin I don't feel so sorry for. They should not have been kept at the club this year anyway.

Did anybody really expect anything better when they saw the lineup this evening?

Haven't been able to watch this :( Is it safe to assume we're winning 5-0?

A trophy is a trophy at the end of the day, I would rather we at least put some effort into winning it. I don't think playing the youngsters in a game like this to get embarrased helps anyone.

We should just go all out attack now.

Has Anderson sounded poor? Nani?

Anderson has just made a total cock up - hes been anonymous for most of the game - started brightly but done feck all after the frist 15.

Nani has looked like our only player who would create anything, but even still, has done nothing worth a special mention

whatever line-up we put out, we should be good enough to beat a championship side, to get beaten 2-0 at home is pathetic and disgraceful.

I don't see why you're so happy to see us losing. While the League Cup isn't the most important thing in the world it's a great chance for our youngsters to get some experience. I bet half of them will be shipped out to some League 2 side in December on loan now.

Experience against what? The best experience they can get is by being placed into an almost full team. They play in the reserves in any case.

You are also being arrogant towards the competition and treating it like trash by using it as nothing more than a training ground. It's bad form.

If you want a discussion about the league cup I will gladly give you one in another thread. It's part and parcel of the problem with the structure of English football in general. You wouldn't really care about that however would you?

The press are gonna have a field day with this.

I'm gonna go through it at work tomorrow now aswell. Thanks Lads.

Calm down, there is probably O'Shea and PIG older than 20.... This cup is meaningless, hence we play our youth side. Fergie doesnt give a feck

How long left 10 mins? Plenty of time for us to get 2 - will it go to extra time if we do?

So Anderson and Nani can be officially called shit players yet?

In all fairness Im very dissapointed with these two - I think Nani's PL displays show alot of promise, but Ive seen nothing at all from Anderson that suggests hes worth his huge transfer fee.

Im totaly aware of his fitness problems and broken leg, but still, ive seen nothing to suggest his huge tallent as promised.

Of course they will, we're United, and they want to sell papers and love it if the biggest club fails. You will survive (hopefully)

People are saying its meaningless because we are out. A cup is a cup, a win is a win. This is a bad result, regardless of who's playing. You know the press will fail to mention we had zero of our first eleven, just that we lost to Coventry

thank feck this wank of a competition is over for us... we can concentrate on more pressing matters... and our squad will get an extra matches rest every round....

c'mon lets get some perspective here

this competition has been a lifeline for the dippers for almost 18 years now

we have always scoffed at them when they won it as its plastic

Pert is right, who cares

Regardless of whether Fergie values the competition or not, I think he owes it to the 70,000+ fans who paid their money to put out at least a half-decent team.
