Manchester United vs Roma

Half time.

No goals yet, and not many attempts, but on the plus side, we have had some excellent passes after our nervous start. Spreading the ball about well, making the Roma players work for the ball which is always good for the second half. Haven't threatened too much, but controlled the game quite well with lengthy spells of possession.

No real attempts again from us, a couple speculative efforts by Totti, and a deflection that hardly troubled. Both teams are a bit cagey, a bit too reluctant to throw players ahead into the attack, but that's to be expected really considering last match. A bit of a strategic match at the moment, us looking to play our way through from side to side, Roma waiting to counter and make use of a lose ball. Defensively we've been alright, giving them a bit too much space though.

Overall. Not a bad first half, it's turned out how I expected in my head, not so much what I wanted in my heart. I reckon the second half is when we will really put the pressure on, see if there's any tired legs about and hopefully exploit that. I reckon Tevez and Giggs will probably get a run out if we have the same scoreline with 30 minutes to go. Ronaldo showed some promise in his runs and passing, Nani with his crosses.

But I thought once we got a proper center forward in, all our trouble would be over. Say it isn't so!
 
Saha/Rooney is not working any better than Tevez/Rooney.
 
HT-Typical United this season.Sloppy passing,Shit final ball,Giving away the ball needlessly.Fcking we only need to get our basics right.

Our defense has done really well again.Carrick has been decentRonaldo has been in and out of the game and he is the only player who can take free-kicks at United.Saha has been shit.

Scholes is 80 years old.Rooney is not yet arrived for the match.

I don't know what to say about the mid-field. Maybe Giggs? But for who? And I thought Hargreaves would be fit. This game would be much different if he was on the pitch.
 
Nani has been quite effective on the wings, always switching sides with Ronnie. Best chance created in the first half was with Nani beating their full back and putting a good cross in for Rooney to volley over. He needs to do more of that, running at pace down the flanks at fullbacks and supplying the width.
 
Its' time for Anderson to show us deluded cnuts whether he is the next ronaldinho or not...

Very disappointing,but its expected the way we are playing this season,very slow tempo,absolutely no imagination.... we should increase the tempo...

hope they get thier bollocks straightened out....

We got a proper striker, Nani & Ronaldo (i.e. width), Carrick is there and Giggs isn't.

How come we're not 5 up then?
 
Theirs imagination Veron, but when we recieve the ball in our half, we're WALKING it to the fecking half way line. Then our move breaks down because Roma have bodies back, its this bollocks SAF European tactic of giving the opposition too much respect.

It's a shame we don't have Fletcher on the pitch, he'd get his foot in and get the crowd going.
 
All in all it was a decent first half, with two or three halfchances. Same for Roma. Not really a cracking game, but fortunately we havent conceded a goal yet.

Rio and Vidic are doing a feckin good job. Oshea is a bid dodgy. Evra did OK.
Ronny also did OK same with Nani. Scholes aint running. Carrick was decent, Saha too. Roon was, besides his half-chance invisible.

I think we can score at least once in the 2nd half.
