Does not look like they are sure if he will recover in time but he was on the bench today. The following was said by O'Neill before the Arsenal game:
"John is really struggling at the moment,"
"The discomfort seems to have moved from his back to the front thigh area. He is in discomfort, we will see."
Carew was visibly struggling towards the end of the Uefa Cup win against Slavia Prague in the Czech Republic last week, but O'Neill remains optimistic that his absence will be a short one.
"He had scans that have come up pretty decently. He is going for tests now with the specialist, so we will see accordingly,"

i'm worried about the likes of Ronaldo, Nani and Anderson. South America is a long way away, and i'm not even sure they'll be back in time. what's the fecking point of having these international friendlies so far removed? FFS!
Tough game, we can't afford to drop any points. Still I expect no more than a point, Villa will be up for it and they looked very organized at the back yesterday at the Emirates. We must play a midfield three to match Barry, Petrov and Sidwell / Reo-Coker, otherwise we'll get overrun.
They played that middle three last time and we took them apart, I doubt we'll get overrun.
Berba - running; verb; to go quickly by moving the legs more rapidly than at a walk and in such a manner that for an instant in each step all or both feet are off the ground.
Considering our away form this season and the fact that Villa look much better than last year I'm worried nevertheless. We do possess the quality to tear them apart, but Fergie needs to get the tactics right. We were outplayed in midfield at Anfield, Emirates and in the second half at Goodison Park, so the key to success obviously lies there. A solid back line would help the case though, at the moment we concede too many stupid goals due to individual errors away from home. They played that middle three last time and we took them apart, I doubt we'll get overrun.

Bah my winning run stopped at 1 game
Anyway Team should be....
GK: VDS
RB: Brown
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Evra
RM: Ronaldo
CM: Carrick
CM: Anderson
LM: Giggs
CF: Rooney
CF: Berbatov
Subs: Foster, Rafael, Evans, Fletcher, Park, Nani, Tevez,
Wont be as easy as some years after their win at Arsenal so 1-2, Ronaldo x2 for us
Giggs on wing is crap so keep Ronaldo there and put Park on the right. Fletcher ahead of Ando on the middle for this one IMO. If Brown isnt fit that looks likely then Oshea there like last game.
If we win, I'd like more of these.
Why do I feel like if we put on a Tevez-Rooney combo we'd rip Villa apart like last season ? with Ronaldo Left / comboing Evra / Park wide right with either Neville/Rafael. C Midfield with Anderson / Carrick. Vidic / Evans
I'd suggest
Rooney
Tevez
Ronaldo Anderson Carrick Park
Evra Vidic Evans Gary/Rafael
VDS/Foster

Your conclusions are wrong there mate. You must directly compare the fixtures they already played (for example Arsenal away), do your math and you'll see they got seven points more this time around from the same fixtures than last season. Fortunately they still have trouble with consistency, so I can see us winning comfortably if we take our chances, but looking at our away form once again, that's a big if.From their first 13 games last season they got 24 points, including a very impressive 2-0 win against Chelsea.
From their first 13 games this season they've got 23 points.
They really don't look much better than last year.

3-0 United
0-0 / 1-0 / 0-1 / 1-1 / 2-0 / 2-1 / 1-2 / 0-2 / 2-2 / 3-0 / 0-3
No chance
We have a decent record against them but this match is going to be much harder than that. Their front line can cause us big problems. If we dont match them for workrate on the day they'll turn us over
What's wrong with Giggs?
