Nice try Sporting but the mask has finally slipped, relo is a peculiarly scouse abbreviation of relative and certainly not something a Portugese fan writing in his second language would say.

It was a cross...

I think the shot was a fluke too.

I'm no Cristiano lover and he's beginning to annoy me. :p Sorry for this little bit of erm.. unsupportiveness towards our own player, but he does strike me as a show-off and one who goes for glory. I don't like players who enjoy basking under the limelight of the media (just look at the amount of attention he gets! posters of him already out so quickly!), but that's just me. He's good, and his skill can be breathtaking, but for a #7, I expect more than just fancy footwork.

I noticed that too.

Whether it was a cross or a shot is irrelivant, it went in the net and counts as a goal, thats good enough for me. At 18 the kid has a great future ahead of him, lets hope he can continue to build from that excellent goal.

It wasn't an excellent goal, it was a poor cross that was missed by the strikers and flew through past the mis-sighted Hislop who couldn't keep it out.

Excellent goal indeed.

Why was it a poor cross?

Knowing Ronaldo (feckin ambitious), I believe that he tried to score and managed. Simply as that. That doesnt mean that he is an expert of free kicks, but its cruel to say that, that was a misskicked cross or anything of that kind.

I am personally relieved that the Portuguese had finally scored. No disrespect towards this talent (I see him as good as Rooney) but the boy was starting to get obsessed about scoring, and that was damaging his performances. Now that he has a goal to claim, I think that he will play his football in a more relaxing and altruistic way.

And let us not be so hard on the boy. Ok he can be too ambitious, shooting or dribbling when the wiser option would have been to pass it, but for feckin sake, he is still a boy. He will learn out from his mistakes and will become a world class player. Whoever remembers Giggs when he was 18 year old will fully understand me!

In that case, I hope you're right. He has a lot of talent, but he needs to manage it well. (also needs to works on other aspects e.g. passing!!!) I just hope the media doesn't ruin him.

Most overated 12mill I've yet seen.

As for rating that a good goal, yer havin a larf

In time he may come good, but whilst fullbacks watch the ball and not those quick feet he'll have to find some other trick to get past.

He's quick , has fast feet but cannot pass a ball accurately to save his life.

As to wether he's a team player is also arguable.

Conclusion...

could do much much better

On that I am not worried. I mean he in the hands of an expert (SAF) who knows all the tricks of the trade in how to groom a talent. I am 100% sure that Ronaldo will be given the best opportunities football can ever offer, and will meet SAF wrath (and rightly so) whenever he becomes too ambitious.

Yet ppl let be realistic. How many 18 years old have you ever seen with the talent of Cristiano Ronaldo? I can name you one. Ryan Giggs

Ok then I'll just call a spade a spade and say it was a total fluke.

I can't see how he could have played it any better!

Delivered fast in the 6 yard area, going in if no-one touches it and goes in if anyone can get a foot on it.

So this is any concern of yours because...? You seem overly interested in critising United players with your own "unique" view but again very predictable. Henry does something similar and you wet your pants but as soon as a United player does it we are all "avin a giraffe". :boring:

I agree with you. He played magnificently

I cannot figure it out how could you come out with this. I mean, techniqually speaking this guy is only second to the great Ryan Giggs himself and that despite being 18 year old. He got everything, pace, technique, he is not bad in air, has vision and has a good shot and its all wrapped in an 18 year old with more than a decade time to improve!

I read the list of clubs who made an official request on this player and its seemed endless stretching from Juventus (you wouldnt believe Moggi's frustration for not signing the player) right to Real.

I remember something concerning Sour Grapes. Is that right Jopub

feckin gooners - they have the ballz to post that drivel - as they off loaded and jug eared diver to everton - that was 10m in the shitter wasn't it joe the gooner? how about the 5m on another player now at everton - lost 2-3m on that transfer. anyone else for the giant shit stain called wilterd? what was that 12m or so for a then 27 yr old w/ limited skills. LOL the arse are skint so don't worry what MUFC spend worry about putting some dosh in the collection plates at highbury at half time.

A bit rich coming from fans of a club who paid 10m each for Jug Ear Jeffers and Wiltord.

Actually he slipped.

That's how badly you want Ronaldo to succeed - pathetic.

You take a slip and call that putting a fullback on his arse.

He did little in that game and not much more in any other game apart from 20 mins against Bolton.

Uuugh yeah of course I forgot he got that dive nice against Stuttgart ;)

he's getting no praise of me till he cuts that stupid fecking hairstyle

In the first half he made Cole look land on his arse and skinned him at least twice. By the second they'd worked him out - though that's easier to do when you're playing so defensively you can keep two players covering him, and let's not forget that was the most negative performance we've seen from Arsenal for years. The 'one-trick pony' tag is false - anyone who saw Sporting batter us pre-season knows he's got a few more up his socks, including one absolutely ridiculous one I can't even begin to describe where he sort of squirts the ball out from under his foot.
