Manchester United vs Everton

This could be one of our toughest games of the season. The Toggees are in good form at the minute.....

Im stuck on Tier 3 of the North stand. Better pack the fecking binoculars....

need a tough midfield in this one, everton will be hard to break down and that monster fellaini is back for them too. therefore:

VDS

Neville
Ferdinand
Vidic
O'Shea

Carrick
Fletcher
Park

Ronaldo
Rooney
Berbatov

im going 2-0: ronaldo and berbatov

No. Cahill wont be able to score. Not if he's well covered by our backs. But that Fellatio guy needs watching. Tricky customer.

---------------------VDS---------------------

--Neville-----Rio--------Vidic--------Sheasy--

--Ronaldo----Carrick----Fletcher------Park----

--------------Berbatov----Tevez---------------

Subs: Kuzczak, Brown, Scholes, Giggs, Possebon, Wellbeck, Gibson
Prediction: 2-0 with goals from Berbatov, Fletcher

--------------------VDS----------------------

Neville---------Rio----------Vidic-------O'Shea

Ronaldo-------Carrick-----Fletcher--------Park

--------------Berbatov----Tevez--------------

Subs: PIG, Brown, Scholes, Giggs, Tosic, Gibson, Welbeck.

SAF also said Evra & Nani could feature so he could put them on the bench or he might wait until the next match, we shall just wait and see :D

You might see them get places on the bench, hopefully get the game wrapped up and bring them on to get them some time :D

Cahill has got a leap like a salmon, and the guy with the Fro is dangerous but I cant see them scoring if its not from a set piece. They like to force teams out wide knowing that they can usual get to the ball first in the air.

--------------------VDS----------------------

Neville---------Rio----------Vidic-------O'Shea

Ronaldo-------Carrick-----Fletcher--------Park

--------------Berbatov----Tevez------------

whats the story on our injuries?

First game I've been to since fecking october!

I want nani.

I'd keep that sort of info to yourself mate !! Anyway - you may have to fight off a few Leeds brassers to get to him, but good luck with that

Everton too soon for trio

Patrice Evra, Nani and Wayne Rooney aren't fit to face Everton on Saturday, but Sir Alex Ferguson remains hopeful that Nemanja Vidic will recover from a knock in training.

It was hoped that Evra (ankle), who has missed the last five games since limping off against Chelsea, would make his comeback, but the game has come too soon.

The same can be said of Nani (groin) and Rooney (hamstring), who also miss out for the Toffees visit to Old Trafford. But, like Evra, they're both expected to be available for the trip to West Ham United next Sunday, 8 February.

"Nani and Evra are both training with the first team," said the boss, "and Wayne will join us on Monday."

Nemanja Vidic is the only question mark for Sir Alex, who has everyone else from the squad that defeated West Brom 5-0 on Tuesday. United The boss will have a late check on the Serbian defender, who picked up a knocked in training.

“Nemanja got a knock in training on Thursday, hopefully he’ll be all right for Saturday,” said the boss. “He miss training on Friday but we’re hoping he’ll be OK."

Fabio is fit again after missing the midweek game at West Brom. The Brazilian left-back made an eye-catching debut against Tottenham last weekend and will be hoping for more first-team action against David Moyes men.

There was more positive news for United; Owen Hargreaves made a significant step in his long road to recovery after successfully undergoing a second knee operation last week.

"It was completely successful and better than the last one," said Sir Alex. "The last operation was more difficult, but this was a more clean-cut problem. He will certainly be ready for the start of next season."

Hopefully Vidic is available. Would probably stick with O'Shea over Fabio, as he'll offer more in the air defensively.

Good news about hargreaves, hopefully it is right.

Looks like good news for tomorrow........

Toffees boosted by Cahill prognosis

Everton's Tim Cahill has been spared a lengthy spell out after X-rays revealed no break in his foot - but is unlikely to play at Old Trafford.

Cahill limped off injured towards the end of the 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Wednesday, with the club fearing that their in-form player could be missing for several games as a result.

Cahill had been playing as a makeshift striker for the Toffees in the absence of injured frontmen Louis Saha, Aiyegbeni Yakubu and James Vaughan, and another absentee would have dealt a huge blow to David Moyes' options.

But while serious injury has been avoided, heavy bruising means that the Australian is still a major doubt for the club's trip to Old Trafford on Saturday.

More good news, looks like Fellatio might also miss out

Injury-stricken Everton could go into arguably their toughest match of the season against Manchester United on Saturday without the services of key midfielders Tim Cahill and Marouane Fellaini.

The Toffees' lack of available strikers has been well documented in recent weeks but the form of makeshift forward Cahill, who has scored four in his last eight starts, has maintained their momentum.

However, the Australia international sustained a severely bruised foot in Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Arsenal and is a major doubt for the trip to Old Trafford.

If that was not bad enough Fellaini, who returned against the Gunners after a two-match suspension, is also troubled by an injured shin.

"Both players are struggling and I won't take any chances if I don't think they are not going to be fit," said Moyes, whose side are unbeaten in their last seven Barclays Premier League matches.

At the risk of sounding like a journalist before the beginning of 2006/2007, where will the goals come from? :smirk:

Big blow for Everton if true. Most of their attacking play is based on set pieces, and if two of their best players in the air are out it can only be good news, especially if we miss Vidic.
Anyway, they'll park the bus and unfortunately they are very good at it - I'd say Hibbert is the weak link in their back four, so hopefully Ronnie will be up for it.

Tomorrow's game aside, what pleases me greatly about this news is the very real possibility that they could both sit out the game against us, then return for the FA Cup game.

Can you imagine the effect that will have on Rafa's persecutory delusions and fragile mental health?

Crazy :D

Very true. I think there is a very good chances that Moyes will rest both if they indeed carry a knock, because the Merseyside derby next week will be more important to them. I'd laugh my ass off if both miss out tomorrow (and we win of course), are back for the FA Cup game and one of them scores the winner against Liverpool. Not too unlikely as well seeing how Liverpool can't cope with set pieces at the moment and Everton are at home.

Agreed. I can't see him taking any risk with either, and actually having a 'excuse' to sit them out may actually suit Moyes.

Yeh, I reckon Moyes' won't take this as seriously as he would've thought at first. We're unbeaten at home, only two sides have even scored at Old Trafford and only one side has prevented us from winning. This is too much for Everton with all their injuries (especially to their attacking players) and their poor record at Old Trafford in the Premier League; with only one win in 16 attempts IIRC.

It's a much safer option for him to park the bus without risking any not-100% players and hope for the best. That's not to say Everton won't give it a bit of a go, because they obviously will. But this is probably the one game this season where they'd take a loss before even playing just to get on with the rest of the season. Once they get players back they'll be almost certain to finish 6th. Let's hope we can win though, and keep another clean sheet. Nothing is easy in the Premier League; but if we score twice I think that'll be it as far as the game is concerned.

Whats the obsession EVERYONE has with pairing carrick with fletcher? it lacks serious creativity and is scholes not good enough for the first team anymore.

Thats the strongest team we can put out at the moment, this will be a tough game and they will be tough to break down.

Over the course of the season Fletcher and Carrick have been our best performers in the middle of the park. Only Giggs comes close, but he won't play unless a lot of injuries happen. Scholes has generally been below his best this season and as good as the pairing of Carrick and Scholes was back in 2006/07 and in parts of last season, it didn't look quite as good this season. We now use to get overrun in midfield if those two are in there, and winning the battle in midfield will be crucial tomorrow.
And I can't see a lack of creativity... Carrick, Ronaldo, Berbatov, Tevez... isn't that enough?

Sir Alex's comments about the next match..

Dislodged leaders Liverpool and Chelsea, now in second place, clash at Anfield on Sunday but a buoyant Ferguson added: ‘If we win I don’t care what happens on Sunday.

'I hope they both lose — that would be a perfect day!’

The conspiracy continues......of course this is all Fergie's fault

Think Moyes is trying to play mind games? I don't think so. He's Fergie's buddy.

MOYES: Key players doubtful

Saturday January 31,2009

By Paul Joyce

DAVID MOYES will risk fuelling another conspiracy theory from Rafa Benitez after saying he could turn to Everton’s youngsters to snap Manchester United’s aura of invincibility.

Everton manager Moyes is unlikely to risk either Tim Cahill or record signing Marouane Fellaini at Old Trafford, but expects both players will be fit for next week’s FA Cup replay with Liverpool.

Benitez accused Everton of being negative after last weekend’s stalemate to fan the flames of rivalry on Merseyside and is in the mood to spot an ulterior motive in his neighbours’ line-up rather than take Moyes at face value.

The loss of the in-form Cahill, who received a blow to his foot in the midweek draw with Arsenal, would leave a huge gap in Everton’s armoury, while £15million Fellaini also missed training yesterday with a shin problem.

“It may well be time to bring in some youngsters,” said Moyes. “The Liverpool game does not come into my thinking. I wouldn’t risk anybody on Saturday, but not because of the Liverpool game. I have to be sure the players are right.

“We have to use the youngsters more than most clubs. The good thing about that is they get blooded into the team early and have opportunities.

“There’s definitely a route through to the first team at Everton and if they are good enough to take it then good for them. The downside to playing youngsters is you can never tell if they are ready to be thrown in and you never know if they will be capable for games such as Manchester United away.”

Dan Gosling, 18, and Jack Rodwell, 17, are in the frame as Everton look to maintain a nine-match unbeaten run and become the first Premier League team to score against United in 12 matches.

Gets better doesn't it. We beat a weakened Everton 3-0 and a strong Everton turn round and knock Rafa's men out da cup. Oh my Lord.

Haven't enjoyed a Championship as much for ages. And Scolari's joining in now just to take it to the next level.

I can't wait for the joint chant of

He's cracking up, He's cracking up
He's cracking
Rafa's cracking up
