UEFA Champions League
San Siro
Tuesday 24th February 2009
KO - 19:45 GMT

Team should be...

GK: VDS

RB: Neville
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Evans
LB: Evra

RM: Ronaldo
CM: Fletcher
CM: Giggs
LM: Park

CF: Rooney
CF: Berbatov

Subs: Foster, Rafael, Fabio, Carrick, Scholes, Nani, Tevez

0-0

If Neville's out then Brown will probably play right-back, meaning Evans will have to slot in at centre-back. Unless he opts for O'Shea at right back, which his playing there against Derby suggests that he might.

I think Vidic's absence will harm our chances. You just have to look at the difference he made when he came in ...

Hoping for a 1-1.

Neville, Brown, Vidic all out

O'Shea and Evans doubtful

Evra-Evans/O'Shea/Brown-Ferdinand-Neville/Brown/O'Shea

Hoping Evans is fit, that's for sure, but I think everyone can agree if O'Shea is declared fit, he'll have a say In the first leg.

I still think it won't be as bad as todays game because we'll have VDS in goal instead of PIG, O'shea most likely instead of Rafael, probably Fletcher and Park on the pitch too. That team will defend a lot better as a unit than the one tonight.

VDS

O'Shea
Ferdinand
Evans
Evra

Ronaldo
Carrick
Scholes
Giggs
Rooney

Berbatov

Good side, if we can get it fit, doubt Scholes can play 3 in a row though. Fletcher will probably play instead.

Park should start to stop Micon, Giggs and Fletcher in the middle, hopefully the defence will be sorted out

In an ideal world, injuries permitting, our defence should be:

O'Shea--Rio--Evans--Evra

Obviously if Brown were fit he'd be in contention too, but he hasn't played much for a while so even if he's available then he should be on the bench. If either O'Shea or Evans are injured then Rafael or Neville (another fitness doubt?) will have to be called upon. If both are injured then we're going to have one fugly back line.

Midfield: As mentioned, I dont think Scholes will start. Too much for him. He wasnt as effective today as in midweek, so playing him in yet again in a few days time would be ridiculous. Fletch will be needed I think to break up their play. Carrick is a must, because he's Michael Carrick.

So Carrick-Fletcher in centre mid.

Attacking Midfield/Upfront: Berbatov, Ronaldo and Rooney are all assumed definates. I guess it's then one of Giggs or Park. This depends on formation. 442 - Park starts on the wing. 433/451 - Giggs starts in the middle and Rooney goes wide. Either is fine imo.

--------------VDS--------------

O'Shea - Ferdinand - Evans - Evra

---Fletcher - Carrick - Giggs-----

---Ronaldo - Rooney - Tevez----

I'd go with that I think, obviously hoping Sheasy and Evans are ok.

EDIT - Shit I forgot Park. Anyway that or 4-4-2 with Park instead of Fletch.

I was sure before the game today we would play

Fletcher, Carrick, Giggs
Ronaldo Berba Rooney

But then Park was rested so he will start on tuesday but insted of who?

3 possibilites as far as I see it:

Fletcher--Carrick---Giggs
Ronaldo---Rooney---Park

-----Fletcher--Carrick
Ronaldo---------------Park
-----Berbatov-Rooney

-----Fletcher--Giggs
Ronaldo---------------Park
-----Berbatov-Rooney

VDS

O'Shea
Ferdinand
Evans
Evra

Ronaldo
Carrick
Scholes
Giggs
Rooney

Berbatov

If we play in that formation, it would more likely end up looking like 4-6-0 on the pitch. I have a hunch Fergie will go like for like and play 442.

I hope we play 442 and not the way we did towards the end of the game today with Berbatov/Tevez up front and Ronaldo/Rooney on the wings. Berbatov/Rooney up front, please.

2-0. Rooney to get on the scoresheet.

Evans doubt?

Dare I throw this out there?

Van Der Sar

Rafael
Fletcher
Ferdinand
Evra

Ronaldo
Carrick
Scholes
Giggs
Rooney

Berbatov

?

Fergie will keep us guessing right up to Tuesday night!

we'll get raped if saf plays 4-3-3.

Well it'd be a 4-5-1 or even 4-6-0 mostly!

But yeah I know, it's not suitable over there at least. We tend to play very cautiously away from home in Europe anyway, especially in a first leg.

Anyone watch enough Serie A to know Inter's likely line-up? Do they have a left winger they could use to expose Rafael? I can't remember which flank Mancini plays on.

Caesar

Maicon
Samuel
Cordoba
Maxwell

Cambiasso
Zanetti
Stankovic
Muntari

Adriano
Ibrahimovic

Yes Mancini played on the left for Roma. No idea how he's doing for Inter. Maxwell played left wing last season for Inter too.

Our defensive problems reminds me of the horrible Milan games two seasons ago, we need a big big performance from Rio...
