Hull City vs. Manchester United

From BBC:

Man Utd (from): Kuszczak, Amos, Neville, Brown, De Laet, Ferdinand, Chester, Eckersley, Simpson, Fabio, Nani, Fletcher, Gibson, Tosic, Martin, Drinkwater, Macheda, Welbeck.

Interesting. Although I will never trust them after they stated Machedaaaaaaaaa was not in the squad for the Villa game he scored, and I was tellling everyone on here, its impossible for him to be involved (based on the bbc squad)

Manchester United big guns left out of squad to face Hull

Sir Alex Ferguson has urged worried north-east football fans not to fret about the Manchester United team he will turn out at Hull on Sunday.

With Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Sunderland all facing the prospect of relegation from the Premier League, they are placing their faith in Ferguson's team not to roll over at the KC Stadium to effectively allow Phil Brown's side to survive.

All three clubs have distanced themselves from speculation they might be tempted to launch a legal fight against United should their team be so weak it fails to provide Hull with any kind of resistance.

However, just days before a Champions League final against Barcelona, they are acutely aware that Ferguson will rest almost all his senior players to prevent any risk of injury.

The provisional squad named for Sunday's game is: Kuszczak, Amos, Neville, Brown, De Laet, Ferdinand, Chester, Eckersley, Simpson, Fabio, Nani, Fletcher, Gibson, Tosic, Martin, Drinkwater, Macheda, Welbeck.

Yet a weakened team should not necessarily translate into a weak one.

Ferguson made numerous changes for the FA Cup semi-final against Everton last month and the Red Devils were still unlucky to lose out on penalties.

And he has assured Gareth Southgate, Alan Shearer and Ricky Sbragia the side he chooses will be a determined one.

"We have a league that has the best integrity in the world and we will play our part in that," he said.

"No matter which team I play, it will represent Manchester United in the normal way.

"We are expected to win. We will go to win. That is the responsibility we always have."

Indeed, with Rio Ferdinand returning to training today in a bid to prove his fitness after a calf problem, United could have one current England star on duty, while Wes Brown's likely comeback from a long-term foot problem may well make it two.

So concerned is Ferguson about the way his club is being portrayed, he did contemplate ringing the respective managers to offer his reassurance, only to decide it probably was not worth it.

"No-one should be unduly worried about our intentions," he said.

"I was going to ring them, although eventually I dismissed that idea because they must know we will be doing our best.

It would be stupid to risk Rio. The other teams can feck off.

I hope we get to see Chester & Drinkwater.

I would start with this team. There can be no questioning the integrity of the Premier League. The back four will be full of experience and Brown returns just in time to give us another option. Ferdinand needs to prove his fitness so I expect 45 mins for him.

In midfield its quite obvious. The unfairly banned Fletcher will play alongside Gibson, who has gained big match experience this year. Nani and Tosic will take care of the wings.

Up front its a no brainer. The Macheda and Welbeck partnership will be used again. This squad is good enough to beat Hull and lets hope they produce a performance to be proud of.

Aye, that looks a strong and balanced side imo. It's certainly better than anything Hull can field. Tosic looks getting into form, Macheda and Welbeck have good understanding between them, Fletch and Gibson have enough experience in the middle, so the real liabilities can came from Gazza and Fabio being exposed(and PIG blunder).

I predict 2-1 win tho. Macheda and Gibson to score.

seems like the most likely side out of the players in the squad. However, I reckon Amos might start, given that PIG is the only back up for VDS with Foster out.

I thought Fabio was injured  Hope to see him get some minutes if the report is true.

If this is the team we start with we can happily point to the Hull fans and any of the other teams that in that team we've got 8 full internationals to start the game, let them try and complain about a weakened team with that stat.

Surprised that Danny Simpson is eligible to play.

I thought players we sent out on loan to another PL club would have to stick to the transfer windows

No, you can recall them at any time unless otherwise stated in the loan contract, and even then if both clubs agree the loan can be terminated.

surprised to see Rodrigo is not involved at all.

i thought both Fabio and Chester were injured.

Drinkwater's close control is pretty good from the reserves stuff ive watched. James is a great passer of the ball, why isnt he in the traveling squad?

Looks great to me and this team is certainly good enough to beat Hull. Like somebody else said before, if we'd played most of our star players they'd be so afraid of getting injured before Wednesday that it'd probably be a dull match whereas the young lads will be hungry and eager, I can't wait.

I'm going to this :)

First time I've travelled to a united away game (Other than to the ground opposite my house)

The only first teamers that should play are Nani, Fletcher, and Neville. Ronaldo, Rooney, Rio, Vidic, VDS, and Carrick should be wrapped in a blanket at home or Rome

Is there potential for one of our so called reserve players to get a medal by playing in tomorrows game?

Can't wait for this even though it's a nothing game, gonna be so bored this summer.

If Neville isnt fit for this, I was just thinking Fletcher may be the captain tomorrow
