Hangzhou Greentown v Manchester United

Good half but Hangzhou are giving us way too much space to operate. It'll be interesting to see if their manager corrects that in the second half and how we'll respond if they do.

Berba-Owen could be a very good partnership. Classic bigman-little man. Playmaker - goalscorer. Promising.

brilliant stuff from our men in the first half, though the opposition has been dire. owen looks lethal, tosic playing well and nani is on song. is it just me or does berbatov resemble zidane when he is on form?

accessorily, the new kits look the bees knees.

Theres just been so much time and space for Berbatov and the rest. The defence can just pass the ball straight down the middle for Berbatov to pick up. The lads have used the ball well, and that 4th goal was a lovely thing (like an Owen finish from his prime) but the opposition are just really really poor.

Anderson better come on now. He won't score but he might get close at least against this shower!

I've enjoyed seeing Nani down the right getting to the byline and crossing well. Very different to the stop-start nature of his game that you see when he plays down the left and continually cuts inside.

Well after 45 minutes I can safely say:
  • that this lot are nowhere near as good as Seoul were
  • Tosic may be lightweight but he's got a beautiful left foot on him
  • Owen is looking nicely like our new fox in the box
  • and Berbasex  - some of his touches are just beautiful

VDS - Block
Fabio - Tricky
Rio - Solid
Evans - Okay
Evra - Decent
Nani - Great
Fletcher - Spectator
Scholes - Poor
Tosic - Cracker
Owen - Lethal
Berba - Genius (He'll make all his critics look like spastics this season)

The front 4 have been really great and what has SAF been feeding Nani on - he´s chasing back all the time and actually passing the ball at the right time - really unselfish today

even if its only preseason, i cant help but fear for old Wayne Rooney. If Berba-Owen proves to be a great partnership, surely Rooney will be stuck out on the left wing again?
Put the lad in midfield I say, he would do a great job.

has good as this game is and we are playing well.
It is not really a reflection on how we will play in the PL even teams like Burnley and Stoke will not give us this much room.
Good to see Berba and Owen playing well together and Evra and Nani have been excellent.

topper to Top - spot on mate

feck missed the first 3 goals as i went in for a quick bath right before the first goal.

but according to paddy in the last couple of minutes owen + berbatov =

I like the position Berbatov is playing now..he's managing to pull the strings as well as being a goal threat. He's alternating with Owen on who's dropping deep and is actually making an effort getting in the box even if he does drop deep. More of this please.

Get a grip. Rooney and Berbatov will be first choice. Owen will only start about a third of our games.

Half time thoughts

We are starting to play very well now. Dont mind the opposition but things are coming together nicely for us. All of our attacking players are finding their rhythm and its a joy to watch. We started the match with poor passing in the final third, now we are just cutting them apart at will.

Keep up the good work.

feck me, Berbatov's gifted. Some people have compared him to Cantona and Ibrahimovic (I'm mostly allergic to these kind of comparisons), but I'm seeing glimpses of Zinedine friggin Zidane. :nervous:

The opposition are fairly wank though, to be fair.

EDIT: I see erickingcantona beat me to the Zidane comparison.

Now I think, since Rooney likes to drop deep too, maybe we won't see much of this Berbasexytov in Berba-Rooney partnership?

I agree ,but lets hope Berba can play this well in the PL and then he can silence his critic's ,Scholes has been very poor and he puts in a couple more of his trademake tackle he could be sent off.

I hope SAF leaves Berb on for another 30 mins, I want:
Roon for Owen
Wes for Rio
O'Shea for Evans
Raphael for Evra (switch the twins)
Ando for Scholes
Carrick for Fletch
Goggs for Tosic

Apart from his goal I was disappointed by Tosic in that half. Can't see him getting into the team playing like that.

Nani looks well up for it, though, and Berbatov is just piss-takingly better at football than the opposition. Fabio has done well too.

Nani berbatov and owen interchanging very nicely, great understanding forming between owen and berbatov, he knows exactly where owen is gonna be all the time, and he is oh so good at picking out them killer balls!
