Wigan v Manchester United

I think we should also play the strongest team possible, and stick with it for a few games until we find our feet.

I'd play:

GK: Foster

RB: Fabio
CB: O'Shea
CB: Evans
LB: Evra

RM: Valencia
CM: Carrick
CM: Fletcher
LM: Nani

CF: Rooney
CF: Berbatov

I know Vidic may be back for this, but I wouldn't rush him back.

Fcuk off.

Three threads last season, two wins (Arsenal at home in CL, Wigan away in PL) and one draw (Arsenal in PL, when we won the title).

You won us the title then?

There are people with better records but I don't want to awake the sleeping beast (the matchday thread jinx debate).

I didn't wrote it. Read it five times. Just wrote what game that was.

Superstitious bastard :)

Is it really important who opens a thread?

It's yours, but it's weird, you know that.

Foster

Fabio
O'Shea
Evans
Evra

Valencia
Fletcher
Anderson
Nani (will he be fit?)

Rooney
Macheda

-----------------Foster------------
Fabio----Brown------Evans----Evra
Valencia--Fletcher--Carrick-----Nani
----------Berbatov--Rooney---------

Need to give the team a chance to settle in, not rip out the entire midfield every match. Carrick had a poor game against Burnley, but he and Fletcher should be our first choice midfield pairing and haven't played yet.

Yup.That's the team for me.

Maybe O'Shea ahead of Brown, who was abysmal last night. I guess that will depend on who trains best over the next few days.

Yes, maybe O'Shea for either Brown or Fabio.

The midfield lacks something, possibly, but if you put our first choice defence behind it, it's fecking rock solid.

Possibly agree re Giggs but I think we need to establish a midfield pairing.

I think whatever defence you put behind it, Nani-Fletch-Carrick-Valencia is second class.

They've all got their good qualities, I like the look of Valencia if he gets a bit more confidence... but as a unit you need all of them to perform at their very best if that's not going to look like some slightly weak-ass shit.

I would disagree with that.

If Carrick plays like he did last night it looks third class. But if him and Fletcher play as well as we know they can do and Nani/Valencia continue to improve then that's actually a decent enough midfield.

It's not as good as, for example, Chelsea's but our attack/defence should be better.

Foster
O'Shea Vidic Evans Evra
Valencia Fletcher Giggs Nani
Rooney Berbatov

Subs: Kuszczak, Fabio, Brown, Anderson, Park, Owen, Macheda.

I believe that is the best team possible for Wigan.

This please

Guys,

What makes everyone think that vidic will play? I was under the impression he hadn't started one game for us yet, even in pre-season, so how can he come in with no match practice and make a start, surely its better to ease him in from the bench??

My Starting 11 would be:

---------------- Foster ----------------

--- Fabio - O'shea - Evans - Evra ---

Valencia - Scholes - Fletcher - Nani

-------- Rooney - Berbatov ---------

- Giggs Wont be able to start having played 2 games in a week, starting 1 of them.
- Anderson was terrible the other day and seems to have lost all his attacking instincts which he had from his pre-united days.
- Scholes will be back in for his quality performance at Birmingham
- Fletcher will be recalled, looking like our best centre midfielder at the moment.
- Rooney and Berbtov to rekindle their striker partnership which can be great.
- Nani will play if fit, we need his spark.
- Finally, Park has no end product and without ronaldo in the team, he must be a squad player and not a player who starts more often than not. We need penetration from the wings, something which he doesnt give us.

right I am feeling nervy about us, our form is poor and we cannot score goals at the moment, we need to buck up soon.

I hope to see Fletcher and Giggs in the midfield from the start. They're our best midfielders hands down at the moment.

SAF should not punish Anderson so early, it is obvious he can be blamed for leaving Blake alone in our box and was running out. I want to see this pairing in the midfield where the running will be equally shared.

I know this is not on TV in the England but what foreign channels is this on?

Come on Maciek, pull your finger out.

Who gives a shite who makes the threads? Grow up, the pair of you.

As for Wigan, they play different football under Martinez. A bit like West Brom last season, they like to pass the ball and try to play posession football which will suit us. They are not physical like they were under Bruce.

We should get a sneaky goal. I predict an edgy 1-0 win.

I wil like to see the best 11 we can afford. I hope most pf them will have had a long hard look in the mirror to not be as shite as they were on Wednesday.

3-0 home win

In light of the revelation that Vidic could definitely play, I would like to amend my lineup

If Evans needs time off, then Brown will do, at least we have Vidic and Evra there for continuity sake.

What worries me is when we need someone to rescue at least a point and you look at the bench you can not find that one anymore.

Nani and Anderson did not make the progress they should have done, they are into their 3rd season at the club, how much did they cost again ?

Right, no messing around. We play our best team on form so far this season. IMO, it's:

Foster

O'Shea
Evans
Vidic
Evra

Nani
Fletcher
Scholes
Giggs

Rooney
Berbatov

That doesn't read like a team chosen by form, which right now has to include pre-season. Has Rooney really been better than Owen? Did Giggs really play well on the wing? Can you imagine a Giggs/Scholes midfield working these days even if Fletcher was running around a lot?

I don't mean to sound cynical (though I'm sure I do) it's just when people try to sound objective about last week's games rather than declaring it as a guess at next week's form that it triggers my negativity.

Foster
O'Shea - Brown - Evans - Evra
Valencia - Fletcher - Carrick - Nani
Berbatov - Rooney

A must-win game or we're going to be in some trouble just before we face Arsenal next week. It will be a lot tougher than against Burnley, Wigan have a lot more quality and Martinez seems to be a clever manager, despite them losing to Wolves on Tuesday. I admit I'm worried.

That is the line up i would go for
