Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United

I hope some serious training is on the cards for a few this week, I would take a draw but if our midfield plays as it did on Saturday I can see us getting beaten.

I wouldn't take a draw at all. Irrespective of our form relative to theirs, we should be looking for the win. They still play very open football. If we pick an attacking side, we will win.

Definitely goals in this one.

We'll definitely start with both Rooney and Berbatov up front i reckon and as long as their are no injuries to come this week i'd probably go with:

Foster
Brown Evans Vidic Evra
Valencia Fletcher Giggs Nani
Rooney Berbatov

1-3

Give the Spurs fans a bit of a reality check.

If I were you I wouldn't be quite so sure that it won't be United fans who'll get the reality check: perhaps one that, post-match, could see Spurs 9 points ahead of United, or effectively 10 points given goal difference.

Yeah Spurs have got a vastly superior team afterall. :smirk:

How is 9 points possible?

It isnt. It's just an other example of an over excited Spurs fan like i mentioned earlier.

Time will tell.

It will be a good game, of that we can be sure of.

Glastonspaz, your goal difference is 1 better than ours. Under no circumstances does a GD advantage of 1 constitute being talked of as an extra point.

If you were 10 goals ahead of us or any sort of GD which wouldn't require much more than a game or two to overturn, you might have a point.

Oh, and the most you can go ahead of us is 6 points, not 9, FFS!

10 points

Bah, Fletcher will eat their midfield alive, Vidic will put their strikers in his pocket and Rooney will do his thing. We would conquer that heap of mediocrity with those three against their eleven alone. Sure thing.

God you lot are confident

On current form and under Redknapp I can see Tottenham giving you a belter of a game.

If they don't start off with their usual inferiority complex about ManUtd then they could definitely beat you

Should be a very good game

I think we'll give them a pasting. 0-3.

How has this thread only just been made? Usually someone makes it before the match before it is over.

It's two weeks away so not a clue who'll be injured, etc... but I'd go with.

Foster
O'Shea Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Valencia Fletcher Anderson Park
Berbatov Rooney

Bench: PIG, Neville, O'Shea, Scholes, Carrick, Owen, Nani

He can play in multiple positions...I doubt at the same time :smirk:

No fecking about with the midfield. 442 and attack these son bitches and bring them back down to earth.

Foster
Brown Rio Vidic Evra
Valencia Carrick Scholes Nani
Rooney Berbatov

GlastonSpur in talking out of his ass schocker.

Evra vs Lennon...:nervous:

I'd seriously consider O'Shea for the left back spot. It's obviously not gonna happen though.

Spurs have been pretty good in midfield this season, and despite their now missing Modric, who's been one of their main attacking threats so far, their midfield (Lennon, Kranjcar, Huddlestone) is a pretty strong one, especially in terms of attacking creativity, and Defoe has looked on fine form too. I'm not saying we're not good enough to beat them, just that Anderson, Carrick or Park, if any of them start this game, certainly need to be more efficient than they have been so far this season. Our defence has looked quite good though (besides Burnley), and Rooney and Berbatov have both been exciting this season, as has Fletcher in midfield, so I'm not too despondent for this one personally.

2-2 (Vidic, Owen)

I reckon this one will be easier than most of us are predicting. Spurs play a 4-4-2 which suits us. They are missing Modric who is their creative faucet. their CM, Palacios and Huddlestone are not exactly quick and are clumsy. Our CMs Fletcher and possibly Giggs could give them quite a hard time. With their CMs busy tackling ours, our forwards Berbatov and Rooney can cause real problems when they drop deep. I've never been a fan of Assuo Ekkotto when he is defending. Maybe Park can run him down.

Defoe and Lennon could be a problem but I'd reckon Vidic and Rio can handle it.

I'd say 3-1 to United.

With the game coming up after the International break i expect it to be a tight game.

It's tough to call but I think we'll nick it. I think Evras in good form to do better against Lennon.

It will be a great game though

This will be tight just like the last two games there, international break before, not in great form before, spurs are flying atm.

1-1 or 2-1 but i really darent predict to which team

Here's some interesting stats (courtesy of MarcSpurs on Spurs Odyssey) concerning Spurs home form:

* Since Harry arrived: Just 1 defeat at home (Everton), not conceded more than 1 goal in a PL home game and only 7 goals conceded at home in the PL.

* No visiting team has scored 2 goals at WHL so far in 2009

* Spurs PL record at home under Harry: P17 W12 D4 L1 GS: 23 GA: 7
40 points gained out of 51 possible

* Complete record at home under Harry incl. cup ties: P23 W16 D6 L1 GS: 41 GA: 14. That equates to conceding an average of around 0.6 goals per game and scoring 1.6 goals a game

* We have played 5 PL games under Harry against last season's top 4 clubs and only Liverpool have managed a goal (two in fact - one in each of the two games we have played them in that time in the PL) .....

* Under Harry Spurs have only conceded one goal from open play against last season's top 4 at home in the last 5 games (incl 3 clean sheets)

* Our record under harry at home to the top four sides:
P5 W3 D2 L0 GF: 5 GA: 2 PTS: 11/15

Make of it what you will .....

Why would you want to hype up your team before Manchester United comes to town? It would make you look rather stupid if you lose.

I could say the same thing with regard to some posts on here predicting an easy win for United.

Besides, are facts the same thing as hype?

They are when they're selective.

I note you haven't bothered posting any stats about manchester United's record at White Hart Lane. I would say they're kind of relevant to this discussion.

They are selective in just one aspect, namely the home record since Harry arrived, covering the whole of the 2009 period to date.

Since that is the most recent period - and covers a longish time - it is surely more relevant than any other 'selection' that might be made.

However, if you don't find the stats interesting or relevant, then fair enough, that's your choice.

So basically your stats tell us that our previous trip to WHL ended in a draw?
