I just have to say I'm absolutely disgusted by this first half. Anytime one of our players has dared to go near Torres and challenge him for the ball, he has collapsed to the ground like a sack of shit and everytime he gets a freekick for it. Evra made two challenges and got a booking yet Lucas has made several but yet no booking for him. Berba just got hacked there and no freekick, the ref is giving us feck all in this match plus I think we should have had at least one penalty (for Giggs or Carrick).
This is going to be a scrappy affair. But with the ref giving home advantage it will be very difficult for us.

Valencia and Berbatov look dangerous, but sadly the Referee is changing the game for the worst. Lucas should be booked, Berbatov shouldn't be booked, we aren't getting any decision's this is heating up.

Why? Scholes has done nothing wrong. Our players have done pretty well on the whole.
Vidic and Rio have been good at the back, which is the main thing so far.

the ref isn't capable of reffing a match at this level yet. He lets the big things slide and blows and cards for the little niggles. Needs to be more consistant.

This referee is a fecking COWARD. You can tell it's his first big four clash because he's absolutely crumbling under pressure. Booking after booking for us, but Liverpool (particularly Lucas) are getting away with it constantly.
Scholes has done well apart from one misplaced pass - no horror tackles as yet and he's slid in a few times cleanly to boot.
Our players are clearly annoyed by the referee. Hopefully SAF will get them to stop thinking about it and keep their heads in the game. Shite ref or not United clearly need to do better in the 2nd half.
Our attack has looked promising. Rio and Vidic have been solid. O Shea has looked vulnerable. Carrick has been good, Scholes has been hit and miss. VDS has been great. The ref is a disgrace. We're getting a bit over run in midfield and losing the ball sloppily.
Anderson would certainly be a good sub for Scholes at some point.

Well first 25 minutes, dippers were on top.. with some outstanding goal-keeping from our Edwin keeping us in it. After that we've been pretty comfortable without offering much of a threat ourselves and it's been a pretty average but solid display.
We don't look great going forward and for me one of Carrick-Scholes has to come off for Anderson if we want to win this game which for me is there for the taking. If we do go one behind I wouldn't mind Neville coming on for O'shea and helping Valencia more down the flanks but as it stands his aerial presence has been crucial.
I think Lucas will have to draw blood to get a booking with this ref.

We've been out worked and out fought in the centre of the park, Carrick and Scholes can't get into the game properly, which in turn has left Rooney and Berbatov feeding off scraps.
Evra got booked (harshly) early on which has left him looking a bit shaky while every time anyone stands near Torres he falls over and wins a free kick.
Van der Sar was our best player in the first half, Kuyt was arguably unlucky not to get a penalty and most of all, the ref' has been an absolute joke. Lucas should have had at least 2 yellow cards by now.
2nd half we need more fight and more work in the middle, so Anderson for either Scholes or Carrick (on first half display could be either).
Liverpool are odds on to get a pen really.

I don't think he has the legs for a two man midfield in a high octane Anfield derby right now. He's not been awful, but he's been outmuscled time and time again, he looks a liability. We need someone who can get a hold of the midfield - Anderson.
We have the quality of the bench to win the match though. We'll put Nani/Anderson and Owen on late in the game to up the tempo, I still think we'll win it. But this depends on whether or not the cnuting referee sends one of our players off before hand.

Obviously the ref is letting this match get away from him. Clearly one sided i his decision making. Torres is a fecking girl, just falls over from a gust of wind and gets free kicks. Berba and Valencia have been our most consistent threats.

The ref bailed out of the Berbatov incident at the end of that half. It was either a free kick to us, or a booking and red card for Berbatov for a dive.
Carrick is our most important player today. Very good so far.
