what up with our home form lately, 3-3 against cska, 0-1 to besitakas and now this
 
Decent first half from us in an attacking sense. We're clearly not scoring just to make another second half thriller.

I can't help but think that Park's coming in for some undue criticism in here. He's clearly not match fit but he's not been all too bad, often he's been given a poor ball and just been unlucky from there. A couple of minutes before the end of the half in the Villa box, for example, the ball just seemed to ping everywhere around him without sitting nicely somewhere for him.

You're missing a few good results, like 3 nil vs Everton, 4-1 Vs pompy, 4 nil vs West ham, 3-1 vs Wolfsburg
 
Rooney's been amazing, I reckon he would thrive on having a partner up front in the second half.
 
Yeah agree that Rooney was fantastic first half an hour or so, almost every touch he had was absolutely spot on. Frustration creeping in after his shot hit the bar I suspect.

Fletcher's looking very uncomfortable at right back, Brown to right back and Carrick to drop back again and allow Fletcher to play in the middle?
 
Been a very good game so far. We don't deserve to be behind but that's football. If we keep this passing game going we'll come through this. Patience.
 
I want to start ranting about left foots again but I'll keep my mouth shut.

Frustrating half, very very frustrating half.

He's not been awful but he is not what we need. We need a goal not someone that run around kicking Ashley Young....

Firstly, we've played well. Our attack has looked very fluent and we are opening Aston Villa at will.

Now our problems are obvious. We just cant finish these chances or the final ball has been off target. Defensively we also have had a few sloppy moments and thats why we find ourselves behind.

In the second half we must keep playing at this tempo but be more effective in front of goal. Brad Friedel has hardly been tested enough and we surely have goals in us. The fightback starts now.
 
Got to say it but Giggs had a stinker of a first half again....which probably means he wins MOTM with his second half performance.
 
I don't think the defence has been as bad as the general over reaction here. I think the midfields been losing the ball sloppily.

Rooney has been the best player so far, apart from the horrendous dive.
 
I'd take a draw right now if offered. Dangerous, dangerous game. Could easily concede again. The injury crisis is finally hitting us as it's in midfield we could have done with Fletcher, he's being abused at RB. Vidic and Brown don't seem on form at all.
Rooney needs support, but Giggs flicks not quite working out. Berbatov or Owen need to come on, because the present lineup in the present formation are not going to get the job done.

Playing well but Aston Villa looking like they can nick another goal with every attack..

Still confident of a win here.
 
we can win this but the underlying problems of Vidic-Brown cannot be ignored. Giggs will probably have a stormer in the second but he struggles against fresh defences in the first half, Park offered feck all and Valencia played like when he'd first joined the club which was rather surprising.

Fletch also needs to up his game positionally.
 
Some iffy decision making at crucial moments, a bollocking at half time should hopefully focus minds.

Rooney [except for that disgraceful] and Evra the stand-out performers.

Want to see better from Giggs, Park and TNE, and Anderson could impose himself more.

But they are vulnerable though and the signs are there, no need to panic just yet.
 
Get Park of the pitch. And replace him with someone that can attack.
 
Bit too Arsenal like with the flicks n tricks in the final 3rd.

Keep it simple and we should find a goal.

It's nothing personal to Park, but he'll make way soon. Luke Young isn't pushing him back all that much, and he's not offering much going forward. Evra can take care of Downing, and move Giggs out to get another striker in.
 
villa are capable of scoring another too, jesus I hate this sort of game...

Agree with both of you, but he was the one who was picked by Fergie so it's not really his fault (in terms of fitness).

If I'm honest I actually thought he started quite well and I was reminded of how much we've missed him, but then he just seemed to get really unlucky combined with some poor touches on his behalf.
 
we didn't have that much chances, not more than villa actually

good game for neutrals but frustrating for me personally
