Hmm, so are Brown and Vidic both out for this? I was quietly expecting to see Neville, Brown, and Vidic back for this.. So now I'm disappointed. Hopefully our medical team can get at least one of Brown or Vidic fit. Having Rafael and Fábio back is a plus, don't get me wrong, but I think it has to be one or the other against Hull, not both. But I'm not sure who else Sir Alex will really want to shove in that centreback position, as at the moment, having four fit full backs and using them all just isn't an option IMO. I'd imagine he'd want to stick Fletcher and Carrick there, but I really want one of them back in midfield for this, most likely Fletcher.
I can see Sir Alex playing a defence of:
Kuszczak
Rafael Carrick Evra Fábio
If both Brown and Vidic don't make it, and while I can see it working to a degree.. Losing Evra down the left is something I don't think we can afford to do. If Evra is fit, he has to be playing left back.
If we get a bit of luck and have at least one of Brown or Vidic, then it just has to be something like this:
Kuszczak
Fábio Vidic Carrick Evra
Valencia Fletcher Anderson Giggs
Berbatov Rooney

Foster; Rafael, de Laet; Gibson, Scholes; Obertan, Owen
Got to say we'll win this, nothing else is acceptable. Chelsea are without
Drogba, Anelka, and Essien (as well as a few other players) and they're running into a very much in-form Birmingham side and then Fulham after that. Two tough games for a Chelsea side not at full strength, while we have Hull and Wigan while we're expecting defenders back. This could be a big chance to make up a few more points before the New Year so we have to win both, and preferably win well.
