Manchester City v Manchester United

This game is huge. It is more than just a Carling Cup Semi Final.

There has been nothing but doom and gloom surrounding the club over the past week or two. This is a must win. We must show that United is still only club in Manchester despite our dire financial situation and City's embarrassment of riches.

I honestly hope not too many youngsters play.

I'd go with this team but who knows what Fergie will do.

PIG
Rafael Brown Evans De Laet
Fletcher Anderson Gibson Nani
Owen Rooney

There. Enough to rest some key players (Evra, Valencia) and put some youth in there to mix with some of our first teamers.

Thats a No-No right there.

I'm sure Geebs would be here in a few minutes/hours to tell me why i'm wrong, but against Man City i'd rather have a pacy midfield two or a pacy midfield three. A pairing of Carrick and Fletcher would be perfect. Or Anderson,Carrick and Fletcher even better. Gibson's mobility would affect our ability to close them down and control the engine room.

I wouldn't go to the extent to saying Gibson is shite, but i wouldn't want him starting against a team full of pacy players.

----------------Van Der Sar---------------

Rafael------Brown----------Evans----Fabio

-------Fletch-----Carrick------Anderson----

---Obertan/Nani---Owen------Diouf---------

can't decide between Nani and Obertan

I'd say it was the other way round if anything, although i've only read the headline

If Obertan, the twins and Diouf all start tomorrow i'm going to empty my entire ball sack.

Would you empty the other one if the Rio-Vida defence came back and Hargreaves made the bench? Well maybe not Hagreaves because he's three weeks away from recovery, but Vidic and Ferdinand back?

We'd lose by two or three goals.

I agree with your team.
But I cant get excited about a Carling Cup match ,OK so it V City but still its just a Carling Cup match.
If it was anybody else them we would not be that bothered.
City will put out the strongest side that they can , they will see this has there best chance for silverwear this season , but still over over 2 legs we can beat them.

Kick-off is 8pm in the UK.

I think we're going to lose by at least 2, simply because of the team's both managers will put out. I don't think theres any chance Rooney will play.

My team based on Fergies comments that he will put out a strong team with a few youngsters in it:

--------------------------VDS---------------------------

Rafael--------------Vidic---------Evans-------------Fabio

Park---------------Fletcher----------Anderson------Nani

------------------Welbeck-------------Rooney----------

----------PIG--------
Rafael-Evans-Vidic/Brown-Fabio
Nani-Fletcher-Anderson-Obertan
------Diouf----Welbeck----

VDS

Rafael
Brown
Evans
Evra

Park
Fletcher
Gibson
Obertan

Rooney
Owen

Subs: PIG, Fabio, Carrick, Anderson, Welbeck, De Laet, Diouf

Play Diouf upfront as an out and out striker with Rooney behind and one of our better midfields and we'll do 'em.

Play Rooney where Rooney should be! Let him feed the one!

THE ONE!

Its a tough one regarding the team selection. If youth and experiance I would say

VDS in goals gets some more match time
Rafael at Right Back as Neville played on Saturday.
If Vidic is fit would like to see him alongside Evans otherwise the center backs should Brown and Evans
Would like to see Fabio but don't think Fergie will go for both twins so might be Evra
Obertan I would like to see on Right Wing
The midfield pairing I would like to see would be Fletcher and either Carrick or Anderson
Left Wing would like to see Nani get another chance.
Upfront if Rooney plays I would like to see Owen alongisde him otherwise Owen and Diouf.

I wouldn't be starting Obertan away from home until he knows how to track back and defend.

I'd go with;

Van der Sar
Rafael Vidic Evans Evra
Nani Fletcher Giggs Park
Rooney Owen

Brown/Anderson in for Vidic/Giggs if they aren't fit. Nani and Park interchanging when it suits them.

I really think Fergie will go 433 away at City if he's using a mixture of youth and experience. Gibson is guaranteed to be 'involved' if I read it correctly, as is Rafael - but I'm not sure if this means they'll both start. I think they both will, however. But if Gibson does start, it has to be a 3-man central midfield IMO unless Fergie feels he can trust the job to just Fletcher and Gibson.

I'd like to see us go 442 with Owen or Diouf starting, but I can't see it happening really.. Who knows.

Giggs is not playing Fergie said yesterday.

Your right about Obertan plus behind him will be Rafael who will be pushing forward a lot.

this is correct, would be asking for trouble

That's class from our pat

Whats he written that you're laughing out loud, C'est vrai.

Feed the One, He will score. Give him clothes, he will raise the dead.

1st statement can be accounted for by the fact that he scored this saturday

2nd statement being, fergie gave him his man utd shirt and we actually saw Nani raise from the dead and play. Also he's performed his miracles with Hargreaves. (yes, we do have a player named hargreaves)
That is in no way meant to be racist. I'm just telling the people here about the One's greatness. Apologies to anyone offended.

I think we need to be careful with this game. I think after their loss to Everton they will of received a good telling off by Mancini, I think he will of spent a long time working on their defense. They are also out for revenge, so they aren't going to role over for us, and I think players like Robinho are going to put the effort in because we are the opponent.

We are high on confidence, we won against Burnley with a great score and deserved to win, but it was only burnley, and they squandered handfuls of very good opportunities. So we need to really pull it together in defence. The last thing we need is Tevez or Bellemy getting into a 1 on 1 situation with the keeper, like Nugent was in, as they are far more likely to finish with the form their in.

This is going to be a good game, but its going to be a close one. I think really we need to be playing as stronger team as possible.
