Manchester City v Manchester United

Very difficult to know which city will turn up. If it's the same one that played Everton we could win by 2. That being said, we could easily lose 1-0 as well. It's going to be a close game and SAF hopefully will field a strong side.

City were poor, but we have also been poor recently. It just shows how quickly a teams form can change. Our form largely changed because it was just Burnley we were against, and even they should of scored a few.

If we play like Everton did and isolate their strikers we will be fine. But if we field a weak midfield we could be in trouble. city have had good form recently, and they will be out for revenge.

The scoreline against Burnley flattered us. We'll do well to keep a clean sheet today because our defence without Vidic or Rio looks devoid of leadership. Neville bless him should remain on the bench and as far away from the action as he possibly can. The prospect of Bellamy / Petrov tearing past him is frightening.

We can definitely win by 2 goals because their defense and midfield don't look as solid and if pressed will succumb, but we'll need to play well and pressure them from the front like Everton did.

Yup...key is midfield. I think we can beat them on the wings with Valencia and Nani and Richards looks very suspect as a defender. Given always puts up a good show against us so Rooney can't be wasteful in front of goal like he has been in the last few weeks. But midfield is where the battle will be won. I worry for us if Carrick / Scholes play alongside each other. Neither have the legs to press, and will get overrun and put our back four under pressure. Would like to see Fletcher and Anderson there.

I do suspect we'll see 451 today.

Completely agree, their defense is shocking, will be interesting to see if Mancini has been able to pull it back together after the weekend.

I think as long as we are stronger in midfield, and can control the midfield then we can win this comfortably.

Make it so. The Ruud style "Dioooooooooouf" chant was already heard after he scored. I wonder how the word of the one has spread around the Stretford End?

Much prefer your Feed The One it's class and no better time than this to chant

451 I don't think that should be the formation if Rooney is upfront alone! Will be like Brum away

Van der Sar
Rafael - Brown - Evans - Evra
Park - Fletcher - Anderson - Nani
Rooney - Diouf

We better care to show up today, I'd hate to see them go past us and win the trophy, even though it's only the Carling Cup.

There is a chance VDS might not play in this match since according to Ben Hibbs, he went back to Holland after Burnley match

I know VDS is back in Manchester but if he had gone to Holland then maybe kuszack should start.

This formation and team today please!

a nice emphatic win to stuff the "city on the up, united in decline" talk would do quite nicely

I have a feeling Rafael may play in centre midfield tonight like he did against Barnsley. With Fabio moving into right back.

That Ruud-esque "Dioooouff" chant will carry on now.. Mark my words

Can't see Diouf starting. Would be nice to see him get some time on the pitch though.

I have a feeling it will be:

Kuszczak
Rafael Vidic Evans Evra
Fletcher Gibson
Park Anderson Nani
Rooney

I would like to see this though:

Kuszczak
Rafael Vidic Evans Fabio
Valencia Fletcher Gibson Park
Rooney Diouf

it'll come down to who's back four are the worst. right now our defense is nearly as shocking...it's been that way for some time.
