Exactly.

He has a feel of Zokora about him, physically great, but technically...

And he is still more frustrating to watch than Nani.

He is a fine passer of the ball, gets too ambitious most of the times - he needs to cut out that part of the game.

You will eat your own words as usual Scholesy, go play with Modric or sumtin.

Hes not, please stop saying it.

I will not eat my words, 2 years ago, I said the exact same thing about Ando, but yet the ones who keep raving about him, said his passing was good and will only get better.

I dont like coming on to slate a player. Andersons attitude is great, and is a United player who I like, but he is clearly not the answer to the huge problem we have of finding a Scholes replacement.

He was 10x better than Fletcher tonight even though he played poor by his standards. So was Valencia but no we bring Owen for Anderson and Scholes for Valencia so Fletcher can play on the right. I give up.

Offers absolutely nothing, runs around a bit and is a strong lad for his age. Apart from that his passing has fallen to pieces,it's all well and good having ambition but you need the ability to make a pass and Van Der Sar has more of goal threat than him. I still believe he has serious potential but he hasn't shown it in ages and seems to be going backwards if anything. Playing him behind Rooney tonight was pointless.

Do people honestly still believe he's better than Carrick?

Anderson has a long way to go, lads. Yes, he's a character, but his performances on the pitch have been erratic at best.

The whole centre of the park is mediocore to be fair..... Anderson was absolutely clueless though. He was like a deep line playmaker playing attacking midfield, shame he wasn't actually doing any playmaking.

People still want him to start regularly in United's midfield just because of his potential, he has world class potential but it's time that he starts showing it consistently. On current form he doesn't deserve to start ahead of Fletch and Carrick

Also today is the reason why Sir Alex has converted him from a Ronaldinho-type player to a Davids like player, his passing is just too inconsistent for a top class attacking midfielder. I am just saying this because I have read various times on these board, that Sir Alex made a mistake by telling Ando to change his game

I know hes 26 and really should be putting in better performances or at least have some consistancy about him... wait hes 21? but there are so many young midfielders who are bossing midfield, like Fabregas... Umm Lucas? Denilson?

so invisible in the 2nd half that when Owen was coming on i couldnt see who he was replacing

Carrick was the best midfielder on the park, rarely wasted the ball, both short or long

This happens every time he has a bad game, when hes good against the likes of Chelsea or when he came on vs Burnley people say hes going to be good. He has a bad game and all of a sudden its "hes rubbish has potential but thats it" I mean hes 21 ofc hes going to be inconsistant and not show his brilliant best all the time.

I mean could it be that hes developed into a Davids type player on his own? Is it possible that everyone thought he was going to be a Scholes replacement but he really wasnt ear-marked for that role?

You can't get consistency if you're not playing consistently.

He was near enough invisible today, linked up a couple of times early on in the first half, but nothing else really.

Really poor today I felt, but I think his game suffered from the team not having two up front, similar to Wayne.

I think we're going to have to work it out, experiment with a diamond or something.

Carrick
Valencia Fletcher
Anderson
Rooney Berbatov

or just drop him and play

Carrick
Valencia Fletcher
Rooney
Berbatov Owen/Diouf

With Giggs used as an impact player in the second half in either formation.

You also have to earn your place in the first team mate, I am a big fan of Anderson and I do think that he is gonna be a big player for us but ATM he doesn't deserve a place in front of Carrick and Fletch

Does he need another spell in the reserves? It worked last time..

If you're good enough, you play, it's as simple as that. He is good enough, he should play consistently.

You'd have thought people would have learned something from Tevez this season. Hes played consistently and City are getting alot more out of him. You can't help but feel, if Ferguson played him consistently last season, or if Ferguson plays Anderson consistently, or if Ferguson played Berba consistently we'd see alot more of their qualities, rather than this shit being driven out about having to 'earn your place' or take your chance when it's handed to you when they're only being started in certain games and don't even know if they'll be in the team for the next game.

:boring:

Sometimes its not form that is the problem.

Its sometimes, players are just not that good.
He has all the attributes though, and we have seen games where he has been really good so it's a matter of a) consistency, as he is young, and b) form. Right now he is horrible, I honestly think, when attacking, we would have played better with 10 men today because everytime he got the ball, we lost it. Is it a motivational/laziness problem? Whatever it is, he needs to sort it out now.

I'm a big Carrick fan, but even I don't think he was that good tonight. Anderson, and to a lesser extent, Fletcher were really just that bad.

Disappointed in Fletcher - we've come to expect so much more from him in these types of matches. With Anderson, the disappearance act is the norm.

constant chopping and changing, its silly and not working, we should stick to a formation and if it doesn't work.. make little changes and look for the winning formula instead of wholesale ones week in week out.

If we drop Fletcher and play Anderson and Carrick or Hargo (subject to his return) we WILL see a totally different team but that's not going to happen for what ever reason SAF sees Fletcher as the future, I wonder if Real Madrid and Barcelona are banging on the door for his signature.....

We also need to play Valencia and Nani on the wings look at the game against Burnley we created 23 chances probably more than the last 10 games all together. When Anderson came on he totally tipped the balance in our favour. Yes it was only against Burnley who had their chances (against another make shift defence) but if you watched the whole game (not the MOTD cut down) we played some of the best football all season and left me thinking positively about the team.

Until we can get past this negative type of formation/player selection we are going to struggle/graft out results.

I actually didn't see Anderson today.

Anyway, the boy is 21 and a bright prospect. I'm sure that if we keep giving him games we will reap the rewards many times in the future.

Anderson needs to play with Owen or Diouf upfront. Owen particularly needs Anderson to play. Anderson will look for the potential runner and try and get the early ball to him. Owen thrives off that service.

He's quite shit. Love him as a physical presence and work horse, but in terms of going forward, passing, and technical ability he's just not there... at all.

Hes not shit, but its impossible to disagree with the rest.

Some people are actually beginning to admit the truth..

Don't know how you missed him, one moment he was helping the defence, the next he was supporting the forwards. Probably covered more blades of grass than anyone.

I'd love to see Ando mature into a Utd regular but at the moment I can't see what his role in the team is. Is he a playmaker or is he being used to break up the play of the opposition and cancel out the opposition? His distribution has become more and more wayward and as others in this thread have said he needs to go back to basics and keep things simple. He's never going to be able to complete the majority of the ambitious passes he attempts.

Probably made more misplaced passes than anyone. Probably made less touches than anyone.

He was awful. Fanboy or not, surely you'd have seen this?

Anderson was fecking awful today, lets not act like idiots.

He doesn't work in this system, I keep saying he needs Owen or Diouf up front, a player who will hang off the shoulder of the last defender so he can play those "Hollywood" balls to. His defensive duties today were fine, the only time he could have even been placed as at fault was not getting to Vincent Kompany quick enough. But then considering our defenders had decided to leave Tevez, et all unmarked I can't blame him.

Rooney, Berba and Anderson very similar, we need a Drogba/Torres figure to get the best out of all three.

Diouf has to make it, or we are going to make all three suffer.

His passes didn't come off today but at least he had the vision to make these passes and the courage to make a defence splitting pass. Other days they can come off. He's still quite inconsistent. Didn't think any of our midfielders were good today.

still cant se the position he fits or prefers to play at for this current time.
