Fulham vs Manchester United

After the penalty was saved you could just see them getting one back.

Threw away 2 points but we got lucky with the og anyway and after the first goal we failed to get another and build on our lead. Was disappointing when Fulham had a free kick, they took ages to take it with Zamora asking for it to be played up top to him and Evans allowed him so much time on the ball and they nearly scored.

Fulhams a tough place though, 3rd in the League early days.

I know it's only the 2nd game of the season, but these are still results and performances you look back on towards the end of the season (just think Burnley last season).

When we got the penalty, you were thinking the game could be done at 3-1. Nani is usually good for us at penalties, but today just wasn't meant to be for him. When he missed the penalty, I just had a bad feeling.

To go from a potential 3-1 result to 2-2 in the space of a few minutes is pure shite TBH.

I agree. It would have been easier to take a 2-2 if the penalty had never been awarded in the first place. The fact that we missed the opportunity to go 2 goals clear with 5 minutes to go is something we needed to grasp. Not blaming Nani for missing it, if Giggs or Berbatov had stepped up I'm sure they could have done the same thing.

Anyway, it's 1 more point than we've got from their in the last 2 seasons so we can take that positive from it and look to comfortably beat West Ham this weekend.

the entire defence was poor. Evra was the cause their first goal.Berbatov and Vidic got in each others way for the second.

Actually i thought it would end 1-1.

ah well.

Vidic was the worst in my books. Passing, positioning and pretty much general defending was way below average. I wouldnt be too critical of Evra for the first goal - although he was average today - sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and admit it was a brilliant piece of skill.

Lets not forget that this is pretty much still their pre-season though.

wow...you really are all Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime in here..the legends are true

carry on
Why do you deem people 'Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime' for being disappointed after todays result?

Like I've said several times upthread, Fulham away is a difficult game, but after the great start, not to mention managing to come back into the game & missing a pen (Yes, the pen was unfair) my personal reaction was severe disappointment.

Does this mean we played like shit today and should just throw in the towel as far as the league is concerned? Of course not.
Is it possible to be disappointed 5 mins after FT and express that disappointment after a game like this without being a 'Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime'? Of course it is.

Ach, Mockney. I thought I was judgemental, but you certainly take the biscuit in that department.

I don't know who to blame, I am just frustrated! Without either Rooney or Fletch we look half the team we actually are. This situation must be sorted. And O'Shea was awful today.

I don't think it was rooney's absence - it was just some players did not perform well enough.

Nanis penalty was confusing. I thought the whole stop start is to see which way the keeper is going to go. When he stopped you could see the keeper lean towards his right, and Nani kicked it there anyway so that confused me.

we should have scored a 2nd in the 1st half. stating the obvious, but at this level you have to convert possession into goals. Fulham did, we didn't. simple as that. we were also very lucky not to concede a penalty in 2nd half with Vidic pulling the fulhams players shirt in the box.

Too points dropped but its what we deserved.

We should still be great full for a point, we could have easily lost today had we not got lucky with that og.

Havent seen Vidic play that badly since Torres. Awful.

Does not help when he's got Evans beside him who had no clue what defending is about today.

Everton away and then Liverpool to come soon. Drop points in one of them (likely) and then these 2 dropped points will hurt even more.

Fulham deserved the point, I thought we started brightly but faded a bit in the middle of the game. Nani will get stick for missing the penalty but I thought he looked a lot more dangerous than Valencia or Park when he came on.

The Berbatov/Hernandez partnership looked ok but it's early days and neither really gave the Fulham center backs a lot to worry about, The biggest concern was how defensively shaky we looked.

That's the difference between us and Chelsea nowadays. Chelsea will score one and immediately look for 1,2 or even 4 more. We score 1 or 2 and we just go to sleep.

tbf thats the first he has missed. The only other player I would have said was better was Giggs.

shit happens. I thought we were lucky to get the penalty tbf.

In the end we did not dominate in midfield and our defence was all at home.

so a point was well fair.

Put it this way, can you see Chelsea dropping points at the Cottage?

Great points, Chelsea to win every game this season, easily.

114 points, 380 goals scored.

Yeh I had no problem with Nani taking it as he handles the pressure well. It was just odd seeing him look at the keeper take a step and still kick it in the same direction. It wasnt like Ronaldos in the CL where Cech didnt move...

Whether a point was fair or not, we've been known to close things out and win games even when we havent deserved it. Its a pity but we have to move on now and just win our games and stay as close to chelsea as we can.

..stuff...

feck off nani

feck off. feck off Nani.

What the feck was that retard doing taking a penalty? Have we learned nothing from Burnley away last season? Jesus fecking Christ.

Shit. WTF Nani. What about Evans today? He just always seems a little dull..

We didn't go to sleep at all, we carried on pressing after Scholes' goal and were unlucky to get another. Chelsea have thrashed 2 abymsal teams which we'll probably do the same to. It is fair to say Chelsea are more clinical against poorer teams but to say we go to sleep is an over statement. We'll see how many Chelsea score at Craven Cottage this season.

Tbf he had the most difficult job - marking Zamora.

Well if marking Zamora is tough and we need to be 'fair' to him, then I don't know what he will do against the likes of Drogba, Torres, Van Persie, Tevez, Villa, Eto'o, Higuain and the rest.

We began to get behind their defence after Nani cam on. And if we had a few more minutes, I thought we would score again.

SAF will get them sorted soon enough.

Was thinking when Hernandez was struggling, how much we missed Rooney...

Who as also been struggling of late.

Crap United

What a joke.

Why the hell didn't Giggs take the penalty? Threw away 2 points there and we're off the pace already.

Shit defending , shit game .
fecking Fulham

Because he's rubbish and doesn't even look like scoring ever... Giggs should have took the pen.

more Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime....

We weren't awful, Nani was very good when he came on pen aside and made their own goal, berba was fine, and it was a very entertaining game.
