Yeah, really annoying that we've got the International break before our next game which is not what you want after a disappointing performance/result but it should mean that Rooney, Giggs and Carrick are back from injury and Anderson and Rio etc are closer to full fitness, baring any injuries on International duty.

This with Hernandez replacing Rooney if his ankle acts up after the international.

I for one am delighted there is an international break now to give the players a bit of time away from Utd. We havnt really looked all that comforatable in many games this year and have been playing pretty poorly in lots of them. This will give the players a chance to get there head right and hopefully get over a few knocks.

Rafael deserves another start at right back. I didn't watch the Sunderland game but a lot of people said he was one of our best players that day, he probably won't play an international game either. Ferdinand and Vidic should definitely start together, the former may not play an international, at least I hope anyway. Evra obviously won't play an international and he'll have had a long rest.

Nani has to start, as does Scholes. Carrick should come back in if fit as Fletcher is our only player who's played every competitive game so far - he'll play for Scotland and needs a rest as that might be what's effecting his performances. Giggs will probably come back in due to no international involvement if he's recovered and be replaced by Bebé late on.

Rooney will probably start whether he plays for England or not, as long as the injury doesn't flare up. Berbatov will start.

van der Sar, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick, Scholes, Giggs, and Berbatov are all somewhat unlikely to, or definitely not going to play during the international break so the freshness should be an advantage. We've been good at home bar the Rangers game where we maybe tinkered a bit too much. Despite West Brom's good form, this should be a game we rack up the goals in with at least another 3-0.

Ideal subs would be Bebé for Giggs, Owen for a striker, and maybe Fletcher for Scholes or Nani to sure things up. Or even getting Hernandez on.

West Brom followed by Bursaspor should be games where we can build up some confidence that we'll hopefully take into our next away game - which is another tough one in Stoke City.

As far as west brom go it wouldn't surprise me if we scrapped a 1-0 win. It's no good predicting teams until we see that everyone comes back from internationals in good condition.
But it's important we put in a good performance and try get some momentum heading into the city game...

For me this is the games when I would like to see where Obertan is at in reguards to pushing for a first team place. I can't see the point of many more reserve games for him. The first team needs more flair and he is somebody who can provide that on his day, he isn't going to learn anything playing as a lone striker in the reserves(as he did in his last game).

Throw him in at the deep end and lets see what he can do, a home game against West Brom is ideal in my opinion. I would also favour the same treatment for Eikrem at some stage this season(hopefully a home game perhaps against Blackpool).

Our policy this season should be to introduce more young flair players into the first team ASAP especially after such a tepid performance against Sunderland. We can't relly on Scholes and Giggs for forever for flair, we should at least begin to usher in some up and coming flair players this season. West Brom would be a great start.

WBA will be no pushover they made a really decent start to the season. Anyway will Hargreaves be back i wonder?

We really need a big win and a performance, the next 4 or 5 games are all winnable before the derby v City, and we need to be going into that in good form.

Play our best XI, we're at home to Bursaspor on the Wednesday I think, and I think we'll be able to rest players in that game.

van der Sar
Rafael Vidic Ferdinand Evra
Nani Scholes Carrick Giggs
Rooney Berbatov

We'll win this 4-0.

Easy win, with a very good, fresh attacking performance. Cue an upturn in the current miserable Caf mood!

Rooney Berbatov

Formations dictate team selection.

We're at home, so we'll play 442.

Anderson on the wing has been a disaster every single time.

Next time I'll write a line up, because it's utterly pointless even speculating on the formation... My line up could translate as...

---Carrick-Scholes
Nani-Anderson-Rooney
------Berbatov

Nani-Carrick-Scholes-Anderson
-----Berbatov-Rooney

Carrick-Scholes-Anderson
--Nani-Berbatov-Rooney

and so on so forth...

Anderson in my line up doesn't mean he'll be left wing. Though I wouldn't be shocked if that was his starting position. Both he and Carrick need games, whilst Fletcher will be off the back of internationals.

The formation will be 442. We're at home against West Brom.

If Carrick, Anderson and Scholes all play (which I doubt) then we'll end up with Anderson on the left wing. There's no two ways about it.

I'll be hoping for Scholes and Carrick to finally get a game together and re-kindle that partnership from years gone by. If that happens then it will be Nani plus A.N Oother out wide. Most likely Park. Possibly Bebe or Oberton, or Fletcher/Gibson on the right wing. Giggs might make a surprise return too.

IMO the least likely result would be Anderson on the left wing. If he plays it will be as one half of two players in central midfield.

Very hard calling these before the international games though. PLayers come back knackered or with niggles all the time.

I know Anderson hasn't been a raving success on the wing, but I really can't see the benefit of playing someone like Park out there against Albion. Giggs will almost certainly be fit by the time the game comes around, so it could be him as you say.

I just think that SAF may see this eminently winnable fixture as an opportunity to cram a number of players into the side who need the minutes on the pitch.

As long as you have the back five and then the screening midfielder (Carrick), I think the remaining five can be given reasonable license to play where they please...
