MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

I've heard he wants to leave to go into Rugby Union. He wants to become a hooker :nervous:

Ferguson said in the interview that we were prepared to offer him a contract fit for the best player in the league. Although he might just be talking within United's financial terms.

That was the second interview regarding Rooney (the one where he wore a suit).

Well that's a lesson for you all. Never name yourselves after current footballers.

Good thing you didn't name yourself roon_ronnie_heinze. :D

Lol, i wanted something with cantona in it, but at the time there was so much talk about how this rooney & ronaldo combination could go on to be one of the best in the world!

So, i hereby request a name change, for obvious reasons! :D

Big point raised on Talksport:

If the fans applaud Rooney when he comes on as would have happened any other time is that going to look like supporting him over fergie?

Fans who support him over Fergie are a bit thick and most probably people who think 'Wain Runi Roxx'.

He has to doesn't he? No club in the world can pretend like they don't need or want one of the top 10 players in the world.

But he's not signing a new contract, and personally I don't want him to play for us again.

so he's just pretending that a contract exists? Sir Alex isn't daft. If Wayne changed his mind, he'd sign it. When Greece won the European Championship, they did not have one world class player. It's about the team and on the pitch we've not REALLY missed him...not in the form he's been showing anyway.

We don't know if Sir Alex knows the truth and because of that I think Sir Alex is going to be calm and deal with the situation

We shouldn't have to match 200 grand a week. If he had any feeling of pride or loyalty for the club, he'd take 60k or so a week less to continue playing for the club where he is loved and respected. Whatever we would have offered him, it would have been definitely over 100k a week and a shit load of money regardless. If money is his actual ambition, an extra 50k(?) a week, then he can feck off to City.

I don't know if I should call you naive or stupid but even I wouldn't take 60 grand a week yet alone when I am the best striker in England (not the league, but England).

I dont think the Rooney camp were expecting that today, Fergie played a blinder in those interviews. I dont think he'll enjoy the neagtive press in all of this, he was obviously trying to manipulate the press into getting the best possible deal for himself out of United ( In My Opinion ). It will be intresting to see what Rooneys peopel will come out with next

As weird as it seems, I'm just emotionless towards this. Not happy, not sad, just a feeling of let's get it over with, get good money for him and HOPEFULLY bring in a good replacement.

Well said. But please...do something about your name. It's making me want to shout obscenities at you. (j/k)

My feeling exactly. He's getting shit loads of money at this club. It's one of the greatest clubs on the planet and he has the honor of playing under Fergie.

On top of that if he goes to City, then the kid really hasn't gotten an iota of sense in his head.

If he goes to City and does an Adebayor i cann't see a steward stopping our end from getting on the pitch.

Either way - he can feck off.

Let him face the crowd so we can give him a proper send off like the big man he thinks he is but then again he doesn't deserve to wear the shirt anymore. Tough call.

That sell on clause with Everton expired in 2009, according to Daniel Taylor that is.

Thats the key, how we go about replacing him, if we can use his fee and some of the money already hanging around maybe we can sign 2-3 top players and not only replace him but a few of the old guard to.

All depends on what we receive from him i suppose, just cant believe how its got to this, 6 months ago he wanted to be here for life.

apparently everton were due 3m if he stayed with us till a certain time and if he was sold before that, they would get a % of the sell on money

that time frame has expired . they will get nothing

Did you read what I said properly? I had 60k or so less than what he may earn at City. Assuming we would offer about 140/150k a week, which is still an incredible amount of money, to turn that down, to potentially join your clubs rivals, for even more money, is greedy and inexcusable.

this still feels so strange...cant really believe that rooney wants to leave for the money.. there must be something more to it...then again, if it is for footballing reasons, can he find a better footballing club suitable for him than Man Utd ? the whole thing is bizarre...

Honigstein reckons he has already agreed personal terms with City, if it hasn't already been mentioned.

I was actually going to start a thread this morning asking if some of our idiot fans would be stupid enough to boo Rooney based on speculation assuming he played tomorrow. I would have looked like a right twat come this afternoon had that happened.

I said don't boo him four hours ago. Now, make his life hell if he plays for us again the fecking idiot.

Don't understand this part.

Look at it this way, if Wayne does sign for City, it'd make beating them in the second half of the season all the more sweeter.

If he does, he's going to get a pigs head thrown at him...with a live grenade inside it.
