MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

feeling I've been properly f***ed by this complete.....person!
Have I ever been this angered by any other United player? Don't think so

Ferdinand did something similar, but won over most of the fans over with great performances, although some still dont forgive him, he's one of my favourite players and he's matured as a person. He was around the same age as Rooney when it happened, too.

If Rooney scores 100 goals over the next 4-5 years this will be forgiven, although not forgotten, its that simple. No doubt Ferdinand will have a word in his ear about this as well.

No, he could have gone to the highest bidder we were willing to let him go to. Maybe he didnt want to go to Spain? Maybe he's dug his heels in and said its City for me.

In what circumstances might we back down and accept the money from City, to send them the player that will win them the league?

Well maybe if the player signs a long contract so they have to pay through the nose, and maybe if the player plays his heart out till the summer when we have more time to find a replacement. Maybe thats the only way we'd accept his desired move.

For 2 months he has been "adamant" about leaving, he's said his team mates arent good enough and that the club doesnt have enough ambition. No he's not going to be turned around and committed long term after a day of talks. Once that stuff is in his head its only a matter of time. We kept Ruud one more season, we kept Ronaldo one more season, we'll be keeping Rooney one more season. And then see ya scouse
Nah I don't think he'll go now.

I think he must have been genuinely shocked by the media backlash and the reaction of fans, teammates, players and managers all over.

I mean sure he must have expected some hate but the backlash was huge. Can see him staying now though.

I can imagine what the next big contract negotiation ploy will be now. He has sent a precedence which others will just follow.

I don't know who the feck has pissed me off more.

United for bowing down to him or him for pulling this stunt.

I can't believe that the clubs bowed down to the classless little cnut.

I never thought I'd say this Fred but I couldn't agree more. What an absolute shambles, re-negotiations with other high profile players will prove interesting, especially when they see to what extent they can go to bully the club into better terms. It sets an awful example.

Notwanting to sign like a tranfer muppet, but maybe Rooney was promised we'll spend significantly next summer? Well, we need to do anyway with Giggsy and Scholes probably retiring...

When you can't differentiate between sign and sound, you are a transfer muppet.

I can't see where we "bowed down" to him.

On any perspective you look at, signing him for a longer deal ensures we have more bargaining power when we try to trade him,

Eliminates uncertainty over his Bosman/buy out move

Ensures we still have the star vehicle to attract players and finally not letting our rivals have him.

Either way we stand to gain.

Yes but who is he to question SAF's transfer dealings? We actually had to convince the lad to stay by assuring him of our future ambition? feck off.

Roy Keane never did anything remotely similar to this did he? He never held out to the last minute to sign a contract in 99, and he never bad mouthed his own team mates did he?

i think the biggest difference between Rooney and keane is the way the case was reported to the press including SAF's initial reaction and Rooney's camp stupid statement where he said he wants to go to an ambitious club.

Ok guys, could be on to something big here. Dont shoot the messenger, this could be bollocks. Just saying what i've heard.

My mate called me there to say that Rooneys announced to the players 10 minutes ago in training that he's staying. His sister in law is only after receiving a text from Corry Evans who she's very close friends with.

Thats all i've heard. As i say could be bollocks! I'll be prepared to take all the abuse if it is. We'll see what materialises.

Well done Clutch.

The greedy little cnut has signed his conract

fecking hell.Mourinho predicted everything perfectly, he knew everything was a stunt to increase his wages.
He can feck off, the selfish greedy fecking cnut.Unbelievable that after all this the club will sign offer him a contract. What will happen next year ? The same sort of bullshit to increase his wages again ?
I feel disgusted

People saying that he did this for the huge contract are forgetting the point that he was already offered, we are told, a huge contract up there with the best in the league. So many posters on here show concern about where this club is heading, squad wise. Rooney has simply done the same but, very stupidly, on a public platform.

My view is that Rooney is a bit of a idiot, we knew that already. He obviously handled this poorly but that happens in life and its time to move on. This is fantastic news, for so many reasons.

Yeah. He's really embarrassed himself here. Acted like a total cnut. Nonetheless, this is great news for the club. Apart from anything else he's obviously been given some reassurances about the future, one of which will have to bee Fergie staying for another season after this one. Huzzah!

I think people should calm down slagging off Wayne Rooney, we all know that Ferguson can be childish and push people out when he wants to. Nobody knows the full story, as far as I'm concerned Rooney is still a United legend in the making.
.......

Do you not see the difference between "I told him I would not be signing a new contract", i.e at that moment, and "I will not sign a contract", i.e ever.

He was explaining why he hadn't signed a contract yet not announcing his intention to leave. Those were his reasons. He was wrong, but they're an understandable concern.

It wasn't handled in the best manner but oh well. Hopefully he'll learn and realise who around him is really going to help him...

He didnt give a timeline. He didnt say "yet", nor did he say "ever". Thats not my point anyway. My point is by doing this in public, hes fecked off a lot fans, ruined his image and questioned his team-mates drive/ambition etc.

As I said his concerns are ok cos we all have these concerns. the problem is doing it in public

This could work in our favour though and im sure w ewill be able to pull a spin on this.

The one thing is though Ferguson is the master. He has played this so well, got the whole football world on his side and hopefully it serves as a way to unite fans around the club. Hopefully.

United have bowed down to the classless little cnut.

So the club lacks ambition ?

"here Wayne, have £20k a week more "

"Great thanks.. thats just proven how ambitious you are "

It's got to be about more than just an extra 20k. I reckon they've promised a big name signing or two in the summer, maybe even january. Maybe this is Rooney testing his power over the club. Maybe he just felt a little unloved. I don't believe even he would be stupid enough to create all this just for 20k a week.

Why are people saying that the club has bowed down, are we sure that Rooney and his management aren't the ones that bowed down?

fecking drama queens the lot of ya.

Aye, can't imagine he got a better salary than already was on offer.

If he was only interested in massive wages he would have gone to City. They could easily trump whatever united offered him and throw in several million quid as a signing on fee as well.

Hehe what a fkin weirdo...

Why couldn't ANY of this be handled behind closed doors is the question a lot of United fans should be asking.

What you mean Mourinho predicted it correctly? Quotes?
