Nathan Delfouneso

Diouf looked more likely to score but I think that was because he was playing in a more advanced positions.

I was really impressed with Macheda's touch and passing (even though they didn't always come off). He's developing into a much more well-rounded striker than the goal poacher he looked in his first-team cameos. Two top class penalties too.
Yeah Macheda played slightly deeper and the amount of times he put Diouf through was promising, whereas whenever he'd played in the first team he was up top.

I always thought Welbeck was the more "rounded" player technically but I'm starting to have second thoughts after that performance by Macheda.

If Delfouneso was playing for our reserves, he would be getting so much more praise. I will come back to this thread in the future.

That doesnt mean he's all that good though. I mean there are posters who go wax lyrical over the likes of Norwood...

Think Scholsey might be right on this one, saw some of the game against Blackpool and was very impressed. Definitely a cut above Agbonlahor and although yet doesn't touch Pato, I think he could be a top four striker in the future. Bannan looked very good as well, Villa's future looks bright if they hold onto these.

File him alongside Carl Cort, Emile Heskey etc.

Looks to have the ability but I don't think he'll ever be consistant at the top level...call it a hunch.

Played in a what was seemingly a poor performance against Blackpool reserves. He'll have to do more than that to be even considered a decent PL player.

I've wactehd Villa a few times this year and he hardly seems to get a game.

He's still 19! Give him a break. He's got Agbonlahor, Carew and Hesky ahead of him and now they play with one up front that means he's not going to have much playing time. He's still in development but has a lot of talent.

he does but to be fair even a trained chimp could see it. It's no sport when you hedge your bets on so many talented kids - they stick out for a reason. He could be a good player for them but like you say he's 19 so while you say give him a chance, perhaps let's not go overboard and suggest he could oneday be good enough for a top 4 side. I just think we'll buy better quality players.

I mean if he ends up similar to defoe, a proper goalscorer to add to his ability then it'll still only get him as far as spurs :D (or even Robbie Keane..) I think our youth is just as promising. I don't know why scholesy and the like, don't grow up abit and try to wank over what we got here. It seems to be a craze to scout other teams kids.....hello people...hellooooo

Bannan and Albrighton look by far the more talented players.

Bannan maybe, don't really think Albrighton will ever be top notch. Very good prem player, but don't think he'll make that next step and become a top four player.

I'd say in terms of our youth potential Welbeck > Delfounso = Keane > Macheda = King.

I suppose this is a matter of opinion. For me, King > any other young striker we currently have who isn't called Hernandez, in terms of potential.

Rotten luck with injuries so far, though.

To be fair I think we have a fantastic crop of young strikers, any one of which could make it. Certainly King has all the physical attributes, just not sure if he's got the technique to become top drawer. In contrast Welbeck and Keane both have fantastic technique and Delfounso seems to have that predatory instinct allied to good technique, physique and pace.

King is a wonderful dribbler. Given how fast he is, he has astonishing technique in this department, not to mention a decent touch. His finishing at Preston was incredibly hit and miss, but he's also got a nice eye for a pass when he wants.

I'd agree that he isn't as rounded as someone like Keane, who seems to be capable of the ridiculous at times (Berbatov would've been proud of some of his goals for the youths and reserves so far), but he's got a lot to his game. It's funny how spoilt we are in this department like you say, given that we've not produced a striker in years.

7 goals in 9 starts for Villa.

In comparison, Macheda 0 goals in 12 starts.

or you could say....

7 goals in 31 appearances for Delfouneso

and

3 goals in 23 appearances for Macheda.

Why would you misrepresent information in that way to big up Delfouneso...especially seeing as how he scored his 1st league goal after coming on as a SUBSTITUTE.

Yet you ignore the goals Kiko scored as a sub....I've not looked at any other post in this thread, is there an agenda here?

Infact looking at league goals,

Macheda - 3 goals in 13 appearances
Delfouneso - 2 goals in 16 appearances.

We do I agree. You missed out Cofie who could be brilliant. Some of his play this seasons been king like. Very impressive. Twice or more he's had efforts from 30 yards where he's done a maradonna turn and ran at teams from in and around our own half. He's very powerful when he's confident.

Plus it's even more impressive to score a goal when you're substitute. You really nailed him with your post

There is pressure at Villa but not as much as Old Trafford. What Kiko needs is a run of 12 starts as opposed to trying to pick up a game here and there in another fragmented season. He's playing no reserve games. Delfouneso gets that benefit

Delfounso has about two touches and both of them are poor passes that go straight out, Macheda screams one into the net...perfect.

It was a sloppy lay-off, happens plenty of times during a game, had very little to do with the goal. You know that too, I hope?

I suppose Andy Gray said it so it must be true...
