World Cup 2018 & 2022 bids

Qatar has a population smaller that that of Northern Ireland, and is physically smaller than the falklands.

"The its our game" attitude that England has probably doesnt go too well with other countries.

Maybe its time for UEFA to break away from FIFA. They would be fecked without European teams and money.

Bitterly disappointed Australia didn't get it, havign never hosted it.

But the people saying...I don't even know where Qatar is, kinds of makes the loss a bit easier to take...

ahhahahahahaha

The only thing pathetic is that comment. And its attitudes like this that makes me really pleased youse didnt get it

It's obviously a point badly made but remember the fuss Greece made over the Olympics?

No-one is really thinking like that but on the other hand there does seem to be no real place in this new world for the traditions and history of the game itself.

It's retarded, what's the alternative? Because we invented the sport, whenever we fancy hosting a World Cup we just pop in and nick it? Or do we get to host it every single time.

Russia? what a fecking joke.

Russia as a venue is perfectly fine, for me. It will probably be a fantastic World Cup. The way it was chosen is definitely questionable, though.

Qatar is the real fecking joke. Not only is there a serious question of corruption in the bid, the World Cup there is going to be fecking shit, if not a disaster.

england 2018

us 2022, however i think qatar would be a very interesting choice.

Qatar are just there to make up the number, they have NO chance at all.

Never mind the fact that they don't have the size to have so many stadiums, forget the fact they aren't very good at all, they just don't have the political sway to get a tournament like this.

Japan are the dominating force in the AFC, so my guess is that all of you who support Australia will be disappointed.

not a good week for cal.

I can even begin to think of the security nightmare that Qatar is going to be. feck it you know we (the USA) will probably be providing that security.

It was Blatter in his statement who called England 'the motherland of football' - we said nothing like that in our presentation.

England bid ambassador and BBC presenter Gary Lineker has confirmed that England were knocked out in the first round of voting. They came fourth out of four. I'm stunned.

BBC Sport

 How could we possibly come last!? Behind Holland-Belgium!?

This was a campaign against England. No question about it.

Wow just seen the result, doubt we'll ever get it. Well just have to keep the Premier league growing as that seems to piss them off. So it will be well over 50 years before we get it, amazing just amazing.

I really do hope the English & Spanish top clubs try to break away from Fifa, see what Blatter will say about that.

Only this week did the leaked cables say that Qatar does the least to combat terrorism of any country in the Middle East.

Wow.

The thing reeks of personal agendas. There's not a chance in hell England was the worst bid.

The US already have a significant presence in the country, which will probably attract terrorists TBH.

Yes obviously and perhaps there is a sense of entitlement which shouldn't be there but equally it does seem that there is no respect for the games traditions or history. This isn't a vote which ignored England's history but just became about money and expanding markets. Let's at least acknowledge that.

Giving the World Cup to Qatar is a bloody farce, a joke. Australia should have walked away with it. And although I loved Japan's bid for the 2022 World Cup the most, it was just too soon for them.

The only thing about this that angers me is that the "proper" footballing nations won't boycott FIFA. Sometimes it's overly obvious that it's not being done right.

By my reckoning, the Netherlands have never hosted a World Cup. I'm sure there are a couple of other iconic nations who haven't either. A shame really.

fourth its a bit ridiculous.

I can see England finishing anywhere from first to third but no way ould i predict them getting fourth place.

The England delegation were making a point of calling it Fifas game, Even though the rules of football were invented in this country. People have been kicking shit about for as long as mankind could walk. Having cavemen booting a rock to each other doesn't mean they invented the game. The french sailors kicking barrels past each other doesn't mean they invented the game. The Game was made in England and the FA book of rules travelled the world and affected more people than many religous tomes.
