Manchester United v Arsenal

I know it's obvious but if we win this it would put us in a fantastic position. A win at Chelsea the week after would be fantastic too.

The last 2 games Berbatov and Rooney have combined excellently with eachother. I'd be very disappointed if we broke up that partnership to revert to a system with a lone striker at home. If either was off form, or Fletcher wasn't playing so poorly maybe then by all means, but at the minute if nothings broke, why try to fix it.

Arsenal will probably have their best player missing, with question marks over the fitness and form of their centre half pairing. We're at home and scored 7 in our last Premiership game. Play 4-4-2 and lets fecking go for it.

Winning those two games would be frankly incredible. I'd be pretty happy with a win on Monday and a draw at Chelsea but to win them both would put us in a brilliant position.

Its cutting insight and analysis like this that makes the CAF such an appealing forum to post on.

For me personally, this is the match of the season - nothing like beating arsenal!

To put it otherwise, Bad Berba's Back

It's no slight on Berbatov. I thought he had a good game last night it's just that Arsenal are looking dangerous at the minute so the sensible option is to get 5 in midfield and when it comes to picking just 1 striker then to play that role then it has to be Rooney.

I like that too.

Tempted to drop Park, stick Rooney on the left with Berb up top but Park is consistently excellent vs l'Arse and Rooney is much better than Berbatov at playing up top on his own.

442 is asking for trouble IMO.

I wouldn't be too worried playing 442 as long as Park was on the left and Carrick and Fletcher were in the middle. It would be incredibly harsh to leave Anderson out though.

Must say i didn't see much to fear from this Arsenal team tonight, if they haven't got Fabregas back for Monday they'll likely have a centre midfield of Song/Wilshere/Denilson and that to me is extremely lightweight, not to mention they look like a walking calamity defensively.

Id be very disappointed if we don't beat these.

Not as obvious as an obvious person making obvious comments though.

Obviously.

What if we score 3 goals which are all disallowed, but Arsenal score 1 goal which is allowed? This isn't made clear in your post.

Liverpool is the main one then arse!

I think we should have enough to best arsenal, especially since we are the home side.
If he makes changes from last night it will be 151 games in a row.

I don't think neither Amos nor Fabio will start, so you should expect that 151th game to follow suit.

Well if we weren't so, whats the word, 'flacid' defensively we'd have a good chance as our best performances are away from home this year.

But I'm recently finding the form of Koscielny alarming, he either dives in because his positioning is so bad he has no choice or simply flounders around scratching his head - I'm beginning to get rumblings of Stepanovs about him!.

Although I fancy we'll score as it's hard not to with Nasri in irrepressible form and van Persie easing his way back, Utd now hitting decent form with a resurgent Rooney, will probably get more as we defensively wilt

Cant see Fabregas figuring either which is of course a huge blow

Be happy with a point although it'll be hard

3-2 3-1 Utd

Hypothetical ... assume there's no Evra or O'Shea avaliable, would anyone play Fabio against Arsenal?

The month long media ******** that would follow an Arsenal win should be all the motivation our lads need to go out and tear these soft cnuts a new one.

Taking my girlfriend to this for her forst ever United game, not a bad one to start off with!

Still can't help thinking it's a waste of a ticket

Agree with all that.

If Scholes, Ferdinand and Evra are fit, * = Replacement.

Starting XI: ------------- Van Der Sar ----------------------
Rafael ------- Ferdinand ----------------- Vidic -------- Evra
Nani ---------- Scholes ---------------- Anderson ----- Park
--------------- Rooney ---------------- Berbatov ----------

Bench: Kuszczak, *O´Shea, *Brown, *Fletcher, Carrick, Giggs, Hernandez

VDS
Rafael Rio Vidic Evra
Fletcher Carrick Anderson
Nani Rooney Park

4-3-3, allowing both Fletcher and Anderson to attack, and not 4-2-3-1 with just Anderson supporting Rooney.

I would fall off my seat in shock if we play 4-4-2.

It won't be a typical 4-4-2, Rooney will play a bit deeper than usual and will interchange positions with Park on some occasions. We didn't play exactly 4-4-2 against Blackburn either, as both Rooney's and Berbatov's average position was deeper than Nani's.

Which is the weakest part of this Arsenal team? It's their pair of CBs. This will be taken into account.

I'm not one for getting into formation debate, but I'd be amazed if we played anything other than 4-3-3 come 4-5-1.

I'm sorry but there is no chance in hell Scholes and Anderson would form a central partnership, have that ever happened in a 4-4-2?

This.

So excited for the game, my roommate is a huge Arsenal supporter and he's been running his mouth now that they're top. Time to shut him up.
