Excellent performance again, good to see a centre midfielder making those forward runs. Hopefully the goals will come soon.

He was good. Defensively he is lazy though. He will not get away with playing in a midfield two with a partner other than Carrick.

You always find some negative don't you

Even if he scores a cup winning Champions League final hat trick you'll have some problem with his dressing sense or his lack of celebration or something!

Maybe he was allowed be a little defensively lazy because he WAS playing with Carrick? His passing is so good at the moment that it's a waste to have him wear himself out defending all the time.

I was not impressed by his Ronaldinho pass either. That strikes me as arrogance, and he has not done enough to be an arrogant player yet.

But yes, it was a good performance by Anderson. I think he has displaced Fletcher on current form. I hope he can continue to play well.

That says everything about Sunderland today :p

Even if there is irony in your irony in your post you make an interesting point. Not many caftards will mention how awful Sunderland were (and logically so) whereas other teams (in England or else) get criticized for making it too easy for their opponents.

Miserable sod.

More indicative of confidence, if anything. A good sign.

Or, you know, confidence, which is excellent to see?

His through ball to Berba when he hit the bar in the first half was also fantastic.

He doesn't need to be defensive. That's Carrick's job. Clearly when the two of them play together, Anderson plays further forward.

Which is a good thing, as it puts both Carrick and Anderson in the position they want to be. Carrick sheilding the back four and Anderson playing as a playmaker.

Really started to train on now, it's so important that this spell isn't interrupted and he keeps playing right through to the end of the season.

nice to read some comments praising him, and I also agree that it's brilliant to see one of our CMs making forward runs. :)

The blind pass is useless (even when Ronaldinho did I've always thought the same) but to say it's arrogance is too extreme

Rubbish, it sometimes puts a lot of disguise on an otherwise obvious pass.

Come on now...

Agreed. Anyone who's played against someone who plays a blind pass will tell you its very effective. It might not look so on TV, but its especially effective later in the game, when players are not as mentally quick as they would be when they're fresh.

The two best United players were given a half an hour rest today.

Anderson is undergoing a Naniesque transformation. Some of his final balls were excellent today. It's what we need - a penetrative player from the middle of the park...

Rubbish yourself, how is it a blind pass when he turns his head in the other direction after he touched the ball.It puts no fecking disguise in anything ffs
The way Anderson did it was pointless, not saying every blind passes are even if the majority I've seen from players have been useless

You said all no look passes are pointless, I said rubbish, as in some are quite useful.

I think he's on the verge of showing us something special. He's still seems a little hesitant to run with it sometimes, but as he gains in confidence I think we'll see him become a really special player.

I like how he kept taking the ball off of diving Sunderland players and then just sauntering past them
