Manchester United v Liverpool

undeniable red. 2 foot lunge, caught Carrick.

Peno may have been very harsh and a dive, but the red was indisputable.

I don't care about fun or not, or the match flowing...The point is Gerrard lunged in with two feet. Now, that's the very definition of a red card, it doesn't really matter how well the game could of been, Carrick's ankle could have been broken...

He made a professional foul, and Webb has acted accordingly. If you wanted the game to run 11 vs 11, then Gerrard shouldn't of made an awful foul, rather then Webb awarding the correct decision.

Finally, common sense.

Wasn't Newcastle's Tiote get sent off for exactly the same type of "tackle" yesterday against Stevenage?

No-one complained about that.

I don't like seeing players sent off for stupid reasons - two yellows for shirts off or handbag reactions etc - but for a two footed studs up 'challenge' that cannot be physically controlled? Yeah, that is a straight red whether it is the wanker committing it or one of our own. It would barely rate a discussion in any other game.

Webb has had a very good game so far, in my opinion. Well deserved MBE.

I think Webb has been excellent ,did not send off Starfish straight away , thought about it and came to the right decision

Sloppy ball again from Carrick. We have to rely on good work from Rafael and Nani in order not to gift posession.

Who is this Beglin guy you lads are talking about?

Rap artist who used to play hockey in the states.

Commentator for ITV now.

Someone's had fun on Webb's wiki page:

I think your on a wind up even old school from when I was a kid and Iam 46 would not accept a 2 footed lunge like that.

He didn't go for the man Gentile style, it's about the intent for me. Sending's off for professional fouls was kind of inspired by Willie Young's challenge on Paul Allen in the '80 Cup Final. That foul is the archetype for red cards.

Scholesy, keep your wumming out of this forum or who you won't be posting on Matchdays again.

Last warning

This. Never a red, and especially so when put in context.

When I saw it in real time the first time Gerrard made the tackle. I just thought it was a yellow card. But when I saw the replay, you could clearly see Gerrard with a TWO FOOTED LUNGE. That is just a clear red card.
