Newcastle fleece Liverpool for Carroll

Crazy money for Carroll and, unless some replacement has been found that we don't know about, it leaves Newcastle with Best/Ameobi up front which is pretty crap.

It might or might be significant that the usual NUFC press conference for today has been put back to later in the afternoon.

It is expected that Stephen Ireland will join on loan and Barton will sign a new contract.
 
He has been effective in his six months in the Premiership but it has only been six months.

As far as Newcastle go, this season could well end for them now and it wouldn't matter. They will stay up easily, and they won't get into Europe anyway so it's as good as over. Long term they will be able to sign three or four very good players with that kind of money which will strengthen them and might even get them pushing for Europe next year.

So far it looks to me like Chelsea are giving Liverpool money to rebuild a side, and Liverpool are passing it by to Newcastle in act of charity.

And the beauty of it is, if it happens Newcastle will almost certainly spaff it on absolute shite! The only downside is Chelsea having two unbelievable centre forwards.

Carroll has had a good season in the championship. Maybe Liverpool are preparing for their new level of football?
 
£30+ million for Carroll is a bit mental after one good half season. I suppose if they did get 50 for Torres and its like swapping the two and getting 20 million it doesn't look as bad.

Yeah, won't be surprised if Newcastle act like utter spastics and sign a big name player who hasn't been good for age, spending a huge amount of money on him.

Chelsea don't worry me too much unless they sign one or two midfielders, their squad is ageing and they are only replacing one player. Doubt they will find money to buy more.

Newcastle have cancelled Alan Pardrew's press conference.
 
Can't see Newcastle bringing someone in on such short notice.I'd be a bit pissed off if Carroll does move

Good points....it does look like that doesn't it.

Having now cancelled the press conference completely it seems NUFC are busy writing their excuse to give the fans having let their latest hero go to liverpool.

I like Andy Carrol as a player I really do. I'm not so sure he's worth the money been branded around though, time will tell I guess.
