Newcastle fleece Liverpool for Carroll

Well played by Mike Ashley, he gets +£35 million to spend on gambling and Carroll will take the heat.

The only thing that could make this better is if the cars that Carrol and Torres are in crash into one another.

Then Liverpool and Chelsea have to split the combined 80-90 million on driver Nolan? Awesome.

If Andrew Carroll is worth £35 Million, then Real took us to the cleaners by paying only £80M for Ronaldo.

We should have not budged until £200M.

We need an insanity gauge GIF.

Comedy gold!

:lol::lol::lol: <----- Me

I'm absolutely gobsmacked! Don't want to say or do except laugh. Laugh at the fee, laugh at attracting TWO big cost signings within days after all these years, laugh at the future which could be rosy or grey. Just laugh.

Laugh at you failing to see the irony in talking about "attracting big cost" players as though that's a good thing.

Laugh at you in general really. As usual.

You've got to give it to Liverpool.

Genius negotiating skills and a job well done blowing errr..investing 80% of the money their going to get for Torres on a proven talent in Carroll.
Not to mention that he hasn't been crocked for the last 4 or 5 matches.

Can't stand listening to the Newcastle reporter reporting how utterly dissappointed Newcastle are of receiving £40 millions for Andy Carroll.

I cant get on there. It must be crashing like feck....

Yep

1737: About 10m people went rushing to check the official Liverpool website after that announcement at 1726... and have crashed it completely by the looks of things. We await confirmation of the fee, but Liverpool say it is a club record.

I actually rate Carroll quite a lot, and because of his age I think in years to come this won't look like quite as stupidly high as it does at the moment. To be honest I expect he'll do better for them this season than the sulky, injury-prone Torres would have or indeed has so far.

Also, the way I'm looking at it is that Liverpool are selling Torres for about 15m more than his true value (considering his injury problems), and buying Carroll for about 15m more than he should be valued.

£35 million is outrageous! He is a great young player but Jesus this is madness.

It sounds like Liverpool are going to sign Adams as well.

It may be 35 million and may have add ons taking it further. But what's the general consensus if the real figure is say mid 20s (and add ons) after the dust has settled? Would he still be considered too expensive?

Personally I think anything over 20 million is ridiculous but I have been known to get things wrong occasionally.

Why anyone would want to get rid of the transfer window is beyond me...

All we need now is Man City to come in and offer Liverpool £225 million.

Around 8 Million

Its definately not mid-20's , Newcastle have already come out and said your first bid of £30m was rejected straight away.

I think I'd have to say that right now I'd be reluctant to pay over £15m for him. He's obviously a good prospect, but come on.

Liverpool are desperate for anyone, and so they are being fleeced. It'd be funny, if it wasn't so sad how much clubs can continue to charge for upcoming English players.

£35m is a hell of a lot to wager on an unproven talent. No, scratch that, it's madness!

I don't think many will disagree that the lad shows promise, but, he's just barely halfway through his first season in the Prem!

I don't think at this point he's worth even £20m.

I hope Liverpool don't do a drug test during the medical;)

Top goalscorers in the championship last year:

Peter Whittingham 22
Nicky Maynard 20
Gary Hooper 19
Charlie Adam 18
Michael Chopra 18
Andy Carroll 17

Bargain at 35m for the sixth highest goalscorer in last years championship!!

I'm hearing it's actually £10m plus £1m for every time David Craig says 'reluctantly'. So a world record deal.
