Manchester United v Manchester City

We have Vidic, Smalling and O'Shea in the box and we mess around with short corners.

fecking annoying.

All of the midfield 3 that we've selected will be required to be flexible and fulfill different roles throughout the match. They're all more than capable of it and that's the beauty of having talented, intelligent midfielders.

The midfield roles aren't as rigidly assigned as you're implying.

Scholes is still capable of tracking back - you make him sound like a geriatric.

Never said they were rigid, but they've obviously got set roles to play, with one role more crucial than the rest, and Carrick can cover those roles better than Fletcher can IMO.

Of course he can, but that'd easily take away most of his energy for 90 minutes, which isn't something we'd like in a crucial fixture as this, is it?
