Luka Modric / Signs for Real Madrid

Do you think Modric will be a Spurs player on the 1st of September 2011? ....
Yes.

Everything points to this (his long contract, Levy's public statement, the very healthy state of the club's finances and the fact that Modric is the heartbeat of the current team) and nothing points the other way except the usual media guff from journos desperate to find something to write about.

Do you think Modric will be a Spurs player on the 1st of September 2011? Honest question.. I am not asking you what you want or believe.. What do you think will happen?

I don't think we will be allowed to sign him unless a huge fee was negotiated. If he stated that he'd like to move then the situation might be different but he hasn't.Although that could change he doesn't seem the type to stir things up...so it's a big fee or nothing

would be a dream come true that mate...:drool::drool:

Yep, a midfield trio of Sneijder-Carrick-Modric with a forward three of Rooney-Hernandez-Valencia, with Nani perfectly capable of replacing both Rooney and Valencia in this setup. Sweet Jesus. Won't happen though...

The fact that you're a United feeder-club kinda wholly negates the above.

My mate said to me he heard Berbatov going back and Modric going the other way. Would make sense seeing as Spurs like buying back players at a cut price and selling their best assets to Man utd....

I'd be very worried if your lot signed him, exactly the type of player you need!

I think we'll get Modric. Now that Scholes has retired, SAF's case to modric will be - "look fella, you can either play for Spuds, and never win anything other then the carling cup...or you can play for United and become the heartbeat of a midfield that's going to challenge for titles and trophies every year. "

End of the day if Modric wants to be a winner he'll understand he needs to make a move from the B-team and play with the big boys.

I think it'll be a different story if 'Arry leaves.

If he goes to Chelsea (as an increasing amount of punters think given the recent tumbling odds) then I think a few players might want out, especially if Chelsea come sniffing.

Read an interesting article which suggested that Modric could triple his wages moving to United or another top four club.

He seems like a decent bloke not purely motivated by money but he might be concerned that an offer from a top four club may not come along again given that at coming up 26 his next move might be his big one.

Will be interesting to see what happens.

I can see Modric's head being turned. I'm not sure at all he'll go to battle in order to leave if Spurs refuse, though.

Modric would be a perfect signing for us, and Fergie is certainly an admirer. He is apparently looking to leave, but while that's a positive for us, there are other clubs in the hunt too. If Chelsea are sniffing around, it's unlikely we'd be able to outbid them, unfortunately.

Modric's ability to cope with the rigours of the Premier League, his ability to play in a 2 man midfield and his creative abilities would fit perfectly into our syatem. Unfortunately, he's be a good fir for Chelsea too.

As I've said already in this thread, this summer Spurs will be posting annual income results that will be something like 50% higher than their previous best.

This alone will provide plenty of spending cash (should Spurs choose to splash out), quite apart from the 40m+ that could - and probably will - be raised by selling off some of our fringe players/players who've been out on loan.

Spurs have zero need to raise cash by selling Modric.

40 million plus? Are you out of your mind?

I would hope Modric realizes that if he comes to United he's automatically the best midfielder we have (because i do believe he's better then Carrick, and Giggs in that position). Whereas with Chelsea he has to compete with Essien and Lumpy. So there's the possibility he doesn't get as many games or the recognition he deserves.

with us, he becomes the heir apparent to Scholes. There, he's just another well paid chav twat.

Nani would HAVE to replace Valencia in this formation as it needs more flexible players.

Contracts count for nothing nowadays. Just look at Carroll who signed an extension for Newcastle just a couple of months before he went to Liverpool.

And I don't think Modric gives a flying feck about the clubs finances - it's what they do on the pitch that matters to him, and I bet he'll be pretty eager to swim with the big fish now that he has got the taste of CL-football.

I don't think SAF will care about price with Modric now. I think he'll be the #1 priority.

True that. Still, it will be difficult to sign him. IMO, they won't sell him.

I would love to have Modric, but I just don't want us to deal with Spurs again.

A newbie PM'd me this:

this is from twitter..

Luka Modric has revealed in an interview with Jutarnji List he could leave #Spurs if the right offer comes in for him.

He also told me to tell Glaston to shut the feck up.

"But of course, if there will be an offer which will be good for Tottenham and for me also, then a transfer is of course possible."
"That doesn't mean that I'm bothered with leaving Tottenham - I'm not thinking about that every hour and every minute.

"I'm happy at White Hart Lane - my status is great, the fans like me and I do have everything I need.

"But then again - when you experience playing in Champions League, you want to keep playing in this tournamen

Even if he is willing to leave Spurs we will still have a fight on our hands as I think Chelsea and City will be in for him as well.

Funny interview, pleases the spuds fans whilst still leaving the door open. I think he'll end up our record signing.

I think he will sign, I just don't think he will be our record signing. I reckon around £20-25m.
