Luka Modric / Signs for Real Madrid

:lol::lol::lol:

That's fecking hilarious. You'll make about £30 million tops on that lot.

If they've sold O'Hara for 5 million, I can see them easily making the 40 million. Spurs have got so much deadwood in their squad, but have a smallish wage budget somehow.

The thing which will stop United from getting Modric IMO, is how easily Spurs can afford to keep him. If Harry has 20 million transfer budget anyway, and has signed a keeper for free (a bizarre move IMO) he'll have the funds to be competitive. I don't think an extra 40m for Modric would improve Tottenham. They'll have money for funds anyway, and are struggling to get a player anywhere near his quality.

Nah ...

Modric won't be signing for Man Utd unless 50m+ is coughed up, which they can't afford unless they both (a) forgo spending 17m on the new GK that they need above all else and (b) also forget about signing Ashley Young. And even then it's doubtful they'd have the dosh.

And Spurs won't be signing Joe Cole.

So I'm happy.

Keep in mind for epic bump.

No doubt in my mind we can afford it but Fergie wouldn't pay £50m+ for Modric.

Even if he was worth it... would Fergie pay 50m for any player other than Messi??? Or Ronaldo? And even then City would run in with a 150m bid:rolleyes:

Could include berba or even Anderson in the deal - not that I want rid of Anderson, but they are similar types of player him and modric

I reckon Anderson and Modric could play together in a 3 man midfield with Fletcher/Carrick sitting behind.

Could yes, but would it be an ideal 3 man midfield? Given it would have cost a lot of money to assemble, one of the 3 would be much better off being a genuine attacking threat who splits defences or scores goals

i honestly think he'll be an excellent signing for united.

Me too. But I just think in addition to him (or even sneijder), we need another player, a defensive midfielder, to add some bite to our midfield. Modric/Sneijder would solve the playmaking creative role in the centre of the park that we seemed to lack at different times during our season. But many times we also lack that energy and tough tackling no nonsense player in midfield.

A player like maybe Banega or Sweinsteigger(however you spell it) would be a combination of creativity and grit and would solve both areas in one purchase.

These are also my thoughts, in a nutshell. Were modric to be our world class expensive signing, we could do with another midfielder alongside.

Luka Modric's advisor is confident the Tottenham playmaker will stay at White Hart Lane this summer.

The Croatia star has been strongly linked with a move Manchester United as the Premier League champions seek a replacement for Paul Scholes.

But Modric's advisor, Mario Mamic, doubts that the ex-Dinamo Zagreb player will move to Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old is under contract until 2016 so not matter what United offer, Mamic reckons the Spurs board will be unwilling to sell.

"Luka will not go to Manchester United and he will also stay at Tottenham because I know that president Daniel Levy will not let him go," he told Croatian newspaper Jutarnji List.

Mamic's father Zdravko is vice-president at Dinamo and believes United may have to top the club-record £30.75million they paid for Dimitar Berbatov in order to land Modric.

"I heard that somebody has offered £20m pounds for Luka but that's crazy," he added.

"When we talk about Modric, that price would only be enough to buy peanuts."

That's that settled then. :)

City will bid for peanuts if they think we're after them.

O well. He can stay there a fight for 5th next season. Wesley or Sami it is.

You guys are all gunna be so disapointed when we don't sign either Modric of Sneijder this Summer.

We'll bring in a youngster or a cheap option IMO.

Sadly, I agree. I hope that youngster will be feckin awesome, someone who can make a difference right away.

Edit: if we do sign a central midfielder, of course, of which I'm still not convinced.

its going to be a torres type of sum to force Spurs into selling I bet

I wouldn't mind another Hernandez type signing

A quality young player for peanuts? No shit! I don't think anyone would mind that.

There would be a lot of complaining at the time though, obviously.

The agent only seems to be saying he will stay because spurs won't sell, not because the player himself is adamant.
