Luka Modric / Signs for Real Madrid

But Man Utd are a far more attractive club to play for than Spurs.Players see clubs like Spurs as a stepping stone .....
As I've said ... Ronaldo, Beckham ....

Like some other posters on here, you seem to have this delusion that Man. Utd just have to snap their fingers and the world and his dog come running.

Too bad for you, I guess, that it just ain't so. You'll come to terms with this reality some day ... so why not start now and avoid further pain ?

Berbabtov, Carrick..
I'll laugh even harder if we sign Modric too, face it he's either coming here or Chelsea!!!

I'm salivating at the prospect of that, to be fair...

But realistically, Spurs don't have to sell and, almost certainly, don't want to. If Modric ends up leaving it will be for a fecking shitload of money.

I just can't see it happening this summer.

Because he said that Man United are a more attractive club to play for than Spurs?

I think you're the one who needs to come to terms with reality.

I love how you say "Ronaldo, Beckham...." as if you've got a long list of players, when actually, those are the only two you have.

Beckham who'd have stayed at United for life had he been wanted, and Ronaldo who left because he had nothing left to achieve here, having won absolutely everything possible.

Players leave Man United for very different reasons than they leave Spurs.

Glaston Spastic didn't actually just say that the sale of one player turns a whole club into a historically selling club did he? At least tell me he didn't type it with a straight face.

GS - 'The gift that keeps on giving'.

Has it not been established that Ronaldo was the exception? Unless you're going to argue that he was just one in a line of similar cases, which wouldn't surprise me given your stupidity, it can hardly be used to determine that United are a selling club.

Once again you are setting yourself up for an enormous amount of abuse due to your ridiculous claims. You genuinely are an idiot.
Ah ... an "exception".

An exception that just happens to exceed the value of the two players sold by Spurs to United.

I see an "exception" that shows Man. Utd to be a bigger money whore than Spurs when it comes to selling their best players.

As I've said, some posters need to come off their (not so high) horse, or ...

Hypocrisy rules OK.

There's a middle ground to be found between Glaston's posts and some of the others. Though Spurs do not have any huge financial need to sell, history suggests that they will at the right price. What that price is is open to interpretation, I imagine it would be around £35m-£38m.

I imagine Modric genuinely wouldn't be bothered if he stayed at Spurs - he wouldn't have signed a whopping six-year contract if he wasn't comfortable there. They're financially comfortable, have a good squad, and a manager who's easy to play under.

That said, it would be foolish to predict him not being tempted by a move to United or Chelsea, he's made it clear that he would like to be playing regularly in the Champions League. That's something that Spurs cannot guarantee, or even be likely, to be playing in, thanks to a cash-rich city, and a Liverpool who will not be as low as they have been for the last couple of years.

Rumours abound that Spurs leaked the news of the £22m bid, which may or may not have been made, suggesting they wish to spark a bidding war. I don't think they're necessarily compelled to sell, but I think they will, eventually.

I don't think anyone called Spurs a money-whore for selling your players.

It's just the transfer food-chain.

Your best players will inevitably want to go to bigger better clubs, unless they lack ambition or are stupid.

Rarely this happens to us, simply because there's not enough clubs better than us, and we can offer players a chance to compete at the highest level consistently, so if they're playing regularly, they rarely want to leave. So rare in fact, you can only find one proper example.

Glaston, do you know about exceptions and rules?

Virtually all your best players go on to sign for bigger better clubs ...
Virtually all our best players?

I count two - Carrick and Berbatov. And we screwed Man. Utd for a pretty penny for both ... and then went onto to qualify for the CL regardless.

And am I supposed to believe that Ronaldo and Beckham were not to be considered amongst your best players?

Exceptions and rules be blowed ... hypocrisy rules OK.

@Glaston
Where`s your bet about Modric?

Modric will leave Tottenham this summer!!!!!!

Not for less than £50 million, according to Glaston 'I know how much Utd can afford, unless you ask me to specify an amount' Spur.

I will take that bet, by the way. Name an amount. You're good at that. Some times.

Glaston, why are you still going on about Beckham? Seriosuly, you do realise that we wanted to sell him. Fergie wanted him out. Not the other way round. Comrende?

Oh and about you screwing us over Carrick. That was £18 million very well spent. As his 4 PL titles, and 1 CL will testify.

Ignore Beckham if it suits you (I suppose Beckham was desperate to stay and not join Real Madrid, a bigger club). But the fact remains that the Ronaldo sale alone establishes Man. Utd as an "historically selling club" (as indeed almost all clubs can be so categorised) .... a sale that in fact far exceeds in money terms any players that Spurs have sold to Man. Utd.

So you might consider coming off your (not so high) high horse.

How the feck do you argue with shit like this? I didn't ignore Beckham you donkey, I told you what happened but it didn't fit your agenda. Which players did you think of when putting "etc" at the end by the way? Oh, you didn't have anyone else?

United isn't historically a selling club because we sold one fecking player. That'd be like saying you're historically a good poster because you made one good post.

I know you're speaking hypothetically here. But he hasn't.

The bet is that Modric will not be sold by Spurs this summer ... I can't be arsed to get involved in hinging it on minimum fee amounts.

As for the stake ... I'm open to your suggestion.

So, you aren't prepared to stand by your "Modric won't leave Spurs for less than £50 million" statement, correct?

Shocking.

I'm offering you a bet that he won't be sold this summer (regardless of whether the transfer fee is £1 or £100m). What more do you want?

So, are you in or out? If the former, then what is your suggested stake?

No, I offered you a bet. I want you to have the balls to back up what you said.
