Berbatov | Fulham player

We'd be fools to not extend his contract.....
1)he really loves United and wants to play for our club.
2)he surely has the qualities, he's a class act.
3)he accepts his role and does not moan at all.
4)we hardly player these days who have a combination of the above three points.

I really hope we keep him.

Me too. He can only be an asset

why are we still not giving him a new contract, its crazy to think we actually want to sell him after he finish as our top-scorer.

I feel Berbatov's place in the squad next season will be up to who we bring in, I feel he's being given three years to prove himself, If Sanchez comes in I'd expect him to go, otherwise he'll be kept on, with no new contract.

Anyone see his comments on losing to City in the Semi's?

fecking hilarious!..To paraphrase, he basically joked that we felt sorry for them as they hadn't won anything for years, so 'let' them win as we had more important trophies to win ...he deserves a contract for that alone!

Perhaps he should have been more focused in putting two easy chances in the back of the net instead of "feeling sorry" for them.

fecking hilarious isn't it!

Nope. You got a link?

Berba doesn't joke about things like that.

Ambitious Paris St Germain to test Man United's resolve with Berba bid

Paris St Germain are ready to offer £11million for Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov.

Sportsmail revealed the ambitious French side were keen to test United's resolve to keep the Bulgarian last month.

Following the arrival of new coach Leonardo from Inter Milan they are ready to put an offer on the table although Berbatov remains keen on staying at Old Trafford.

If those new owners are muppets and want to blow us out of the water with a 15m+ bid than they can. Otherwise feck off.

We already have Hernandez, Rooney and Owen. Welbeck and Macheda will return from loan while Ashley Young will soon sign. At age 30, with one year left in his contract and a hole to fill in CM its wiser to sell him now rather then keep him at OT.

Rubbish. He can still do a great job for us. Apart from Roo and Chicarito, the others are no great shakes compared to Berba.

I would be pretty underwhelmed if we sold Berbatov and kept Owen as 3rd choice striker. One injury to Rooney and our campaign would be fecked.

Do we need a third choice striker to give us 'great shakes'? Or is it better to invest in CM? I have this feeling that we're going to invest on a great playmaker which will allow us to revert to the 4-2-3-1 system. In that case Rooney will be adequately backed by Hernandez, the new guy by Anderson/Welbeck/Giggs, while the flanks (Valencia/Nani) will be backed by Park and Young.

Well he is an obvious transfer target for clubs like PSG. 1 Year left on his contract not getting his game, still with a few years to offer.

£11M sounds a good deal for a 30 year old but I think we can get more for him.

I just dont want to see it run and run. His situation is clearly a question which needs to be answered

If we receive a bid in the order of 10-15M or higher; Sell him and invest in youth
If we don't receive a bid in the order of 10-15M; Let's hope he gets another good season, and that he does not intend to do a Bosman!

i'm pretty much with you over this. owen is a good impact player to have, but i don't think he has the legs to complete 90 minutes anymore, infact i would be very surprise if he stays fit for most of the campaign and ends up with 15 goals or so, as i just cannot see that happening with owen now.

some are saying welbeck can make an impact but while there is no doubt he is a very good young player with pretty huge potential, to ask him to replace berba would be a big ask for welbeck.

berba on the other hand, is still capable and he was one of the main reason for our great home record in the PL last season.

for me it is simple. if berba stays then we can concentrate in bringing in midfield players, which is the area that need some strengthening. if berba leaves, we simply need to bring in an experience replacement. there are not many better 3rd choice forward in the world than our berba. he and chicharito can easily swap the role as the second and third choice forward in the team, which is no doubt would be bad news for our oppositions.

Disagree with this.

Rooney can play up top and in the hole, Giggs can play in the hole, Park can play in the hole, Nani proved vs. Bayern that he can also play up top, Ashley Young spent all of last season playing in the hole, Chicarito, Michael Owen, Welbeck....

Paves the way for Welbeck to step up BUT I still think he's too damned good to get rid of.

The problem is whether he'll be content as having to try and get in the first team again next year over Hernandez.

I always thought something would happen to him after the extension of Owen's contract... that seemed a little bit "strange"... as someone has said, if really SAF wants to sell him, let's do it for 15 or more. But I hope this won't happen.

howardnurse Dimitar #Berbatov is NOT about to join PSG from #MUFC contrary to reports. Confirmed by club a few moments ago. #BBCFootball

i know we got a few midfield players that can play as a second striker but surely sellling berba and didn't sign any replacement would be a bit of a risk don't you think?...

Erm, toughy, it's the last chance to get money for him and if Ashley Young was the replacement I'd be pleased enough.

In defence of a reason to keep Berba, I'm getting "concerned" that we won't find a suitable international CM before August; Schneider apparently loves Milan (or is not impressed by the Manchester rain?), others also seem reluctant to come to the Theatre of Dreams for one reason or another. SAF doesn't seem to rate Brits like Charlie Adam. On the other hand we still have Nani (for now at least) Cole is on his way in, Valencia is a 1st choice out wide, plus there's Welbeck & Macheda as well as Berba. Not forgetting of course the ""the little pea"

Could it be Fergie is in fact grooming Rooney to play a CM role? IMO he certainly has the vision, the pace, the grit and the stamina to do a fabulous job! He would likely chip in a few goals also much like Scholesy did too.

Imagine Rooney as the attacking CM and either Fletcher or Carrick (as defensive CM) They could prove to be very effective partnerships with Valencia out on the right and Cole to the left (receiving the sweet diagonal balls Roo has shown to be more than capable of in the past and reminiscent of Scholesy). Cleverly would get some action too ... possibly giving Rooney a break from time to time.

We still have a variety of decent, potentially great combinations up front; first choice perhaps being Chicharito and Nani or Chicharito and Berba. Not to mention the youngsters, Welbeck and Macheda both ready, willing and able to give it a real good go plus Owen as a more "experienced" option.

Add to that the addition of Jones (who looks to be capable of some work in midfield) to an already proven back four add some reliable goal keeping and I think we have a team worth backing to win a 20th league title.

Gibson, O'Shea and Brown all move on to help balance out the wages.

What are you on about? Berbatov's not a 'CM', I've never heard a United fan call it the Theatre of Dreams, Ferguson has signed, or nearly signed, two players so far this close season, Jones and Young - both Brits, Macheda will either be away on loan or sold, calling Hernandez the little pea is irritating as feck, and who the feck is Cole?

Ah well, I'm off to bed.

Would be great if we made Berbatov a more advanced midfielder. Makes so much sense given his almost habitual tendency to drift back towards the midfield. Won't happen, but would be wonderful seeing him in midfield given his vision, touch, passing and hold up play.

No idea how he'd far in terms of his discipline in that position, but he's certainly got the technical attributes to play there. Would save an awful lot of hassle and all.
