We're not talking about Conservative by British standards. Cameron is closer to Obama in terms of policy than he is most Republicans.
Trump is not a conservative by conservative Republican standards, which is what counts here.
Why? There are plenty of conservatives who aren't nutters.
Because this context is strictly within the Republican primaries - not outside the GOP and certainly not outside the USA.
We're talking specifically about conservatives within the GOP as defined by the 3 pillars of conservatism (social, fiscal, and defense).
"Trump isn't a conservative by any Republican measure"

No, you are. If Trump himself says he's a conservative then maybe that's a clue.
I just can´t bring myself to consider anyone a hero
He's not because he doesn't actually have any conviction behind the things he says. He's saying them just for attention. See Carson, Cruz, Huckabee, Santorum et al. They are Republican conservatives. Trump is a self-aggrandizing opportunist and anyone who believes anything he says is extremely gullible.

He thinks the Defense budget should be more than 3%. How is this not conservative?
Oh well that photo changes everything. Great reasoning.
It illustrates that he's a complete opportunist who has not only given money to the Clintons, but also spent considerable effort courting them. How's that for conservative.![]()

How do you know Trump doesn´t have any conviction on what he says????
This is turning into a farce
So should we ignore his stance on big business, taxes, abortion, the environment etc?
You've never heard of a republican donating to a democrat candidate?
Certainly not by many conservatives. History 101 tells us that real conservatives loathe the Clintons and do anything and everything to bring them down, as opposed to yuck it up with them at parties and contribute to their campaigns.
Utter nonsense. They have always got loads of corporate money.
Corporate money has nothing to do with political conservatism. There are many wealthy powerful Democrats.
Yes, that´s why the supreme court voted on strict political lines about corporate money in politics.
They vote along political lines on a range of issues and has nothing to do with what i was talking about.
My point was Democrats get big money much like Republicans do.
Case in point - http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/04/20/obama.goldman.donations/
Yes, when they vote along political lines it means something very significant, being that it is a political divide on philosophy, especially on citizens united.

Republican money is given to dems when they think it will benefit them.
More aptly, money is given to politicians when they think it will benefit the donors.
Take a look at a list of Hillary's donors and it won't be all too disimilar to her Republican counterparts. The Partisan divide across both parties is now a myth.
