Airtricity League XI Vs Manchester United

No Scholes or Giggs today. Feck it anyway

Travelling squad from Man utd website

Goalkeepers: Tomasz Kuszczak, Ben Amos. Defenders: Rafael, Fabio, Vidic, Evans, O'Shea, Smalling. Midfielders: Carrick, Fletcher, Gibson, Nani, Park, Valencia. Forwards: Berbatov, Owen, Rooney, Hernandez

I remember being at a similar fixture a years ago in Lansdown road. I'm pretty sure it was Dion Dublins 1st game and it was against an Ireland xi made up of home based players ( i think). Anyone else at this? I cant remember the score

Anyone think Evra has been left out purely becaus it's Ireland...

When did Owen get back to fitness?

They've reported on Sky that Owen made the trip "despite an injury that will force him to miss the start of the season". Maybe he's there as Fergie's personal advisor if they are taking in a race meeting.

---------------PIG----------
Rafael---Smalling---Vidic---Fabio
-----Carrick-----Fletcher-----
Park------------------------Nani
----Hernandez------Rooney

I'm pretty sure Valencia will start in place of Nani, and O'Shea for Fabio but other than that i agree with you deepthroat.
I was thinking about that, but I feel like fabio needs the minutes. You're probably right about Valencia though, didn't realise he was fully fit again?

No Evra, implies that O'Shea might be leftback ... No Neville may suggest Rafael and/or Brown plays too.

One eye may be on the Community Sheild so I am thinking no Fletcher, no Nani, no Berbatov, possibly no Evans or Smalling.

Or maybe not.

It's good to see Owen on the team...

Kuszczak; Rafael, Vidic, O'Shea, Fabio; Valenica, Carrick, Gibson, Park; Rooney, Owen

subs: Amos, J. Evans, Smalling, Fletcher, Nani, Berbatov, Hernandez,

Happy days.... cant wait.... I'm gonna leave about 4, 2 hours to Bray so should be in there for about 6.30/7 for a few sneaky pints.

------------- PIG -----------------
Rafael -- Vidic -- Smalling -- O'shea
Valencia -- Carrick -- Gibson -- Nani
----- Rooney --- Hernandez -------

subs : Amos, J.Evans, Fabio, Park, Berba, Owen, Fletcher.

Would like to see how Rooney and Chicharito link up.

Damn, I want to see combinations of Rooney + Hernandez, Rooney + Berbatov, Berbatov + Hernandez.. Let's be silly:

Kuszczak
Rafael Smalling Vidic Fabio
Fletcher Gibson Carrick
Hernandez Berbatov Rooney

It'd be best to just see Rooney and Berbatov start really, with Hernandez replacing Berbatov in the second half. I want to see some of Valencia, Nani, and Park as well of course. Do we get unlimited subs?

I'm guessing this isn't on the tele in England :(

Edit: Just heard it's on MUTV, meh lol

Think the long haul flight to the USA might keep Rafael out of either the Community Sheild Game or Newcastle, good chance for Fabio in one of those particularly with Neville and Brown (where is he?) out, It's likely O'Shea and Evra will start though O'Shea could be rested for the Community Sheild...

-----------Van der Sar-----------
-----Fabio-Smalling-Vidic-Evra----
--Welbeck-Carrick-Scholes--Giggs-
---------Berbatov-Owen----------

It simply doesn't resonate with some people that John O'Shea will start this one.

Sir Alex revealed at the weekend that Michael Carrick, Ji-sung Park, Wayne Rooney, Antonio Valencia and Nemanja Vidic will all be involved, while John O'Shea is set to captain the side on Irish soil.

That's a very good squad, and add in the players who haven't been chosen for the game tonight, it's a great squad and it can compete for everything this season without the Aguero/Gourcuff and the likes.

Oooh. Just got a call from a friend who happens to be the boss of Damien Richardson's sister. Apparently he's getting some tickets off her. Looks like I'll be getting the full corporate hospitality gig. Nice.

Nice one.

Just got my tickets. Had to queue for 90 minutes outside the Aviva. You would think they'd have more than just 2 people selling the tickets. The queue was miles long. Ridiculous.

If a player goes out on loan and is included as part of the registered 25 man squad then he cannot be replaced until the transfer window opens. Thus if you are going to put a player out on loan you best do this before the transfer window closes or the player is under 21 and the rules does not apply to him.

Is there any point having Berba and Rooney up front? They have played together for 2 years and should know how each other plays. I think SAF should try out different formations and attack options.

You're right! It should be Owen and Hernandez, decent warm up for the League Cup games, and it's highly unlikely they'll play together before then.

:D

Thats your own fault for waiting til today, they have been onsale for ages mate:D

So they are selling beer in the ground? Might be persuaded to get there a bit earlier.

Is that definite? Yay!

Interesting there's no Welbeck, Cleverley or Diouf. That fits in with all the speculation about loan deals.

Wonder why Macheda didn't travel?

Could simply be that with Owen and Rooney back - there simply wasn't room for more strikers as these 2 and Chicharito need matchfitness more than the other who aren't travelling!

if you have a purple ticket you seemingly have to get off the dart at Sandymount and walk over to herbert road.

Pissed off about that. A freaking dart station AT the stadium and I have to get off the dart earlier and walk 20 minutes to the stadium. stupid. just freaking stupid.

Owen is fit? When did this happen? Thought he'd miss the first few weeks of the season.

No patrice but a good a good chance for Fabio to stake a claim should he get minutes. O'sheas captain. I think we might see carrick fletcher in the middle with gibson starting outside. Hope not. Nice to be back closer to home

2000 pints a minute, baby.

Oh yes.... that will be able to keep up with my demand (probably about €15 a pint mind!!)

Right, if thats the case I'm going to leave here about 3.30 and be at the stadium about 6 :D

If O'Shea is playing then it will be at left back - Fabio won't get minutes am guessing for this. Vida is coming back in defense and Carrick in midfield - so unlikely he'll get deployed at CB or in midfield again.

Maybe it's time Brown got a shot at right back. Evans or Smalling to partner with Vida and Rafael saved for Community Shield (and then he is back off to US) so he'll need managing.

I'd like to see Vidic and Smalling play at some point. Will be interesting to see how Smalling does with an experienced defense around him. He has looked out of sorts when partnered with Rafael, Fabio, Evans etc.
