Airtricity League XI Vs Manchester United

I'd like to see Vidic and Smalling play at some point. Will be interesting to see how Smalling does with an experienced defense around him. He has looked out of sorts when partnered with Rafael, Fabio, Evans etc.

I'd like to see Vidic play, full stop. We've been defending set-pieces like rubber-limbed spastics in his absence.

Right, thats it, I'm off........

If there's a streaker it will most likely be me!

I'm sure he'll be involved, I'm thinking those that have missed pre-season due to injury or the WC will start, with the possible exception of Owen, as wasn't he a bit further behind the others

Thats your own fault for waiting til today, they have been onsale for ages mate:D

So they are selling beer in the ground? Might be persuaded to get there a bit earlier.

No to the beer. I sent my brother off to buy them last week and again yesterday and he claimed there were none on sale in Carroll's. The lazy fecker. That's why this gobshite got stuck in Ballsbridge for the morning.

I dont think saf will play hernandez and rooney, at least not straight away.

If O'Shea is playing then it will be at left back - Fabio won't get minutes am guessing for this. Vida is coming back in defense and Carrick in midfield - so unlikely he'll get deployed at CB or in midfield again.

Maybe it's time Brown got a shot at right back. Evans or Smalling to partner with Vida and Rafael saved for Community Shield (and then he is back off to US) so he'll need managing.

I'd say that

Neville (if fit), Evra, Vidic, Park and Rooney are definite starters.
Sir Alex revealed at the weekend that Michael Carrick, Ji-sung Park, Wayne Rooney, Antonio Valencia and Nemanja Vidic will all be involved, while John O'Shea is set to captain the side on Irish soil.

Apparently, this may shock a few people but O'Shea will start, be it fullback, centreback, midfeild, upfront and/or in goal. First name on the teamsheet just like the Champion's League Final. With the Community Sheild this weekend you might see a few surprises with the team selection, with some of the "bigger names dropped so to speak" as well as in terms of formation and or personel but O'Shea will start this one and probably will play multiple positions.

Brown is out, Evra is out and Neville is out.

Before someone shouts Line-Ups.

Airtricity League starting team v Manchester United:

Gary Rogers (St Patrick's Athletic); Brian Shelley (Bohemians), Gavin Peers (Sligo Rovers), Ken Oman (Bohemians) Conor Powell (Bohemians); Ryan Guy (St Patrick's Athletic), Paul Keegan (c) (Bohemians), Shaun Williams (Sporting Fingal), Killian Brennan (Bohemians); Joseph Ndo (Sligo Rovers), Paddy Madden (Bohemians).

Bench

4-5-1?

Anyway, the Aviva website says beer will be served.

I'll watch it in the stadium, then come home again and watch it recorded from RTÉ. :p

The big names need game time before the charity shield since they havent played for over 30 days.

We're wearing this beauty tonight, for those that don't know!

The away shirt is shit, looks more like a training top. Maybe this has something to do with it: The new Manchester United Men’s Away Shirt is made entirely from recycled materials, each shirt is constructed from up to 8 plastic bottles.

I think we'll start with Rooney and Berba upfront. I'd love us to try Hernandez and Kiko upfront at some point, would like to see how that works out. Valencia hopefully will get a run out and great to have Vida back as the defence was shaky in America.

Well I know O'Shea is set to be captain tonight and only said If ... well because I just said it absentminded.

He'll play leftback because Evra is not there and for center backs we've got Vida, Smalling, Evans.

For midfield there is a slew of people - least of all Carrick who needs game time. Didn't know about Brown being out (why is that?) but, I guess that does open up the right back spot but, you've still got Rafael and Da Laet.

Unlikely that O'Shea will play anywhere other than goal or at leftback :p

Possibly Giggs, Gibson, Scholes, Hernandez, Nani and Smalling to feature at some point too?

Thats pretty much my team. I reckon fletcher will be save for the shield and gibbo will play.

And though it would make sense for hernandez to start with rooney, both need game time, i agree with you, i have a hunch saf will go with berba.

Tomasz Kuszczak, Ben Amos.

Rafael, Fabio, Vidic, Evans, O'Shea, Smalling.

Carrick, Fletcher, Gibson, Nani, Park, Valencia.

Berbatov, Owen, Rooney, Hernandez.

The squad...

Interesting - no VDS, Giggs, Scholes, Macheda

When did Owen get back to fitness?

Cleverly, Welbeck, Diouf and Da Laet make sense in possibly going out on loan and don't want them injured before that happens.

That the official or guess now that the squad is know Ole?

Tomasz Kuszczak, Ben Amos.

Rafael, Fabio, Vidic, Evans, O'Shea, Smalling.

Carrick, Fletcher, Gibson, Nani, Park, Valencia.

Berbatov, Owen, Rooney, Hernandez.

The squad...

Nice.
Owen, Rooney, Carrick, Park, Valencia, Vidic...should all start. There's no time, the pre season is almost over

My lineup and possible subs would be

PIG
Rafael-Vidic-Evans-O'Shea
Valencia-Carrick-Fletcher/Gibson/-Park/Nani/
Rooney/Berba/-Owen/Hernandez/

Could anyone PM me with a decent stream when we get closer to kick off?

We're not going to play a very very strong team. We have a trophy to play for on Sunday

Cant you open up the stream but not actually watch the game?

No. We're specifically not allowed to watch-slash-open video streams/youtube videos et cetera that aren't work-related. Maybe no one notices if I do it, and maybe I take that chance for a CL final, but not for a friendly. :D Audio streams are perfectly okay, though.

Really glad Vidic, Owen, Valencia and Rooney are all starting. Will be interesting to see how they do for the first game back!

Not really about the trophy on Sunday. Everyone may play it off as a friendly but, it will be a good measure for the season to come. It's Chelsea and playing well and beating against them anytime is a good thing.
