Alex Salmond and Independence

They're conducting polls as we speak; they're just not allowed to publish them. Unofficial data suggests that the Yes vote is currently 10-15% ahead, at least according to what I've heard.

That's the second times you've claimed a lead is being reported for 'yes'.

Who are 'They' and where are you hearing these figures?

Unofficial data suggests he has pulled them straight out of his arse.

Considering nobody is allowed to publish exit poll data till polls are closed, this is probably it.

If you want to go by Reddit as an exit poll, as for 3 hours ago this was the data

As of now, for the top 50 posts, the sum of points for
YES-voters: 7290
NO-voters: 7689

On the other hand, the top posts got
YES-voter: 3835
NO-voter: 2930

Make of it what you will.
Just keep in mind
a) it's redditors and not a random sample of voters
b) could be that one of the two groups has a higher tendency to upvote than the other
c) even "no"-guys might upvote the "yes"-posts, and vice versa - the posts indicate that many Scotts feel it's a heart vs. head decision

I'm not sure he has, the "Should Scotland be an independent Country poll" on Red Cafe has the Yes vote beating the yes vote by 20%+

Actually, a sizeable majority of the population of NI is staunchly Unionist because of the Protestant/Catholic thing.
You've confused the feck out of me here if I'm honest, what's that got to do with Andy Murray?

So if I wake up tomorrow to find every news station running a bit with Sean Connery smoking a cigar and swilling scotch whisky with Mel Gibson reprising his role as William Wallace, I could assume that the yes camp got up?

Won't most of those votes be from Americans? That doesn't look like it means anything.

Seriously - that's what it's like over there. It's like that but to a smaller degree in Scotland. There was an Orange Lodge (Unionist) march in Edinburgh the other day.
Mate I'm from Northern Ireland, I was born and raised there, it's not like that at all.
The vast majority of people won't give a feck what Andy Murray said, Protestant or Catholic.

I think its worth remembering that in 2010, after 15 years of populist Labour, ENGLAND still gave 53% of their vote to Labour, Lib Dems and Greens.

Most of England is socialist, left wing and green. We do our recycling and aren't rich

We want the same things

andy murray the bloke who supports whoever are playing england votes for independence - how exactly is this news - wasnt that as obvious as the way sean connery will vote?
Connery can't vote because he isn't in Scotland! Plus Murray was for ages trying not to come across as an ABE politically, but we can all see through it!

It's just news because he didn't have the balls to come out and say it earlier.

It's just news because he didn't have the balls to come out and say it earlier.

If he didn't have the balls to come out and say it a week ago why would he then have the balls to come out and say it now? God forbid he's actually telling the truth!

Some really pathetic shit going on here. "He's anyone but England". Yeah, at the fecking World Cup. He's a proud Brit who's represented Britain plenty of times.

I dismissed the idea that Scotland as a nation was divided to the point of violence, which is nonsense. If I had just responded to your one sided tirade by pointing out these incidents were so rare, you'd point to how they were all yes voters and insult them or criticise the movement like you do in everything you've said in this thread. Aye move on.

It's funny. They're plenty informed when it comes to the negatives of an independent Scotland but seem to be seriously misinformed as to what's actually happening up here. The way they're talking you'd think it was a Northern Ireland/Ukraine/England 2011 type thing.

presumably not any more if the vote goes his way

Can't be that proud

Because he wanted to limit the damage by leaving it to the last second. Don't try telling me he only made his mind up at one o'clock this morning.

If he were that proud a Brit he wouldn't be crowing about supporting independence.

 Bit rich coming from someone that has ignore every request to point out the positives and simply ignores the more difficult questions asked of you.

Heard a few stories on Andy Murray people wanting a picture/autograph etc, he's an arrogant prick who doesn't give anyone time or day outside the court and these are story's I've heard from Scottish people, so i don't know why anyone else bothers with him outside Scotland.

Why not?

Thinking Scottish people could do a better job of running their own country* doesn't make him anti-British or anti-English. A lot of the English people talking about the vote seem to have no clue about the Scottish mindset in all this, it's ridiculous.

* Post transaction costs, a new currency/ currency arrangements etc.

Serious question: If the Scots vote no, can we have a biannual Home Nations tournament again?

Er..............by saying Scotland should leave the UK it does. You can't have it both ways, you either want to be part of the UK or you don't.
